OK, when we purchased our BCV we hopped on a resale as it was too good. Not thrilled with our DEC UY. Perhaps we will sell. Not sure if we should add on as it may get crazy managing two different UY's...... We travel in late August/ early Sept and late/ December early January. Which can you suggest will be the BEST UY for us?

Would love to hear how others manage two UY contracts? Is it DO-ABLE? (sp):lmao:Thanks

From the dates you travel a summer UY (August) would probably be best.

We tend to travel from Oct-Mar (sometimes Apr) and have an August UY. Works out well since our banking deadline is March 31st. Usually our trips for the year are done by then.

With a Dec UY and traveling in Aug/Sept, your banking deadline would be July 31st. If for some reason you needed to change your Aug/Sept trip after 7/31 you couldn't bank those pts. If trip was in Aug it would be under 30 days so no matter what your UY it would go in holding and couldn't be banked anyway. Sept you still would be able to bank though.

Not the end of the world to have a Dec UY and wouldn't see the contract if the $$ was right, just need to be conscience of it when planning trips.

Managing two UY's is definitely doable, especially if you do something like use your Dec UY for your Dec/Jan trips and buy additional points in a different UY for your Aug/Sept trips. That is one of the easiest ways to handle two different UY's.

An Aug UY sounds like it would be more ideal for you but if you are in a position that cancellation is unlikely then the Dec. UY should work ok. You have until July 31st to bank any unused points and if you ever had an Aug reservation that you needed to cancel you'd need to do it by the end of July or have the points go into holding anyway. Of course you'd have less time to use those holding points but again - what is your risk of having to cancel? Sept is your odd month but again, unless you are likely to cancel it isn't terrible - just a little more risky. Selling and rebuying will have a cost to it that you should compare to the odds of the risk of cancelling a reservation outside of your banking time.

I would not worry too much about your UY. It really only matters for trip cancellations or possibly waitlisting/resort changes in the last month. If you never cancel and book BCV (and want to stay there) at 11 months. you will not have any issue (If you have had to cancel your aug/sept trips in the past, I might worry more)

DVC is a long term commitment, your plans may change in the future and a once perfect UY may wind up being troublesome. I bought direct and got a Feb UY (which actually was fairly ideal for our typical May trips) but we've wound up going on more fall trips than spring..

You do have the perfect UY for half your trips (Dec/Jan) see how it goes, and if addonitis hits, keep your existing contract for those trips and buy another resale for the aug/sept trips.
