Uy & Points Question

I keep confusing myself...help!

My UY is Dec. So currently I am in UY 08.

I have 8 points left Dec 08 (must be used within this use year because they were borrowed)

172 points left for Dec 09

250 points for Dec 10

I am looking to make a 2bdrm reservation for Jan 2010 @ SSR (approx 250 points). So I would have to borrow from Dec 10UY.

Now what happens if I make the above reservation and decide later on this year to do a quick trip to DLP (we live in Germany). I would have used my entire amount from UY 09 and borrowed from UY 10. Once I use the UY 09 points for the first reservation they are gone or could I transfer more points out from UY 10 to cover the Jan 2010 reservation?

Should I just make the DLP Reservation 1st, then make the SSR reservation?

If you make your Jan 2010 reservation now, they will book it using your 09 points and borrow some from you 2010 UY.

If you decide later this year to book another trip, then yes, you can ask MS to make the reservation and ask them to do it with 2009 points and then use all of the 2010 points you need for the January 2010.

If you make the first trip now, and then book the January 2010, you will be putting yourself into a situation where both sets of points will be borrowed.

My suggestion would be to book the Jan 2010 trip first. Only book the trip to DL when you are sure you are going since it will involve borrowing your 2009 points into your 2008 UY. Once you borrow them, if you had to cancel that trip, you would have only until December 1st of this year to use them (they would not be able to go back to your Jan 2010 trip).

Only book the trip to DL when you are sure you are going since it will involve borrowing your 2009 points into your 2008 UY. Another point to remember about using your points at DLP--they become reservation points and that is also a non reversable transacation. If you cancel, you will not be able to use them for DVC properties.... And, I believe DLP has the $95.00 booking fee. (Which you have to pay again if you make any changes)
