Im still trying to get the hang of banking and UY--most of the time I can things clear and now this time its hard to see anything clear
anyways we have a 100 point contract at the poly with a aug UY

on the dashboard for 2025 to Im assuming then the 2026 uy we have zero in available and zero in holding which is correct
I did bank 7 points though which I think are 2025 leftover into then I believe 2026 UY

heres comes the trickey part--so we now have 107 points for our 2027 trip we always go the end of Jan
issue is we need 125 for a week stay--we could probably just go for 6 nights or possibly buy the OUP and then borrow 1 point

but were thinking of going someplace else for next year and banking the 107 points and like i mentioned then having the 207 points to use

am I even thinking this right
I hope I expalined it so it makes sense

With a 100pt contract, you won’t have 107pts to bank into the following year. Seems like 7 points have already been banked. They can’t be banked again.

How many points do you currently have in your

2025 AUG UY

2026 AUG UY

2027 AUG UY

If you banked 7 pts from 2025 to 2026, they would work for Jan 2027 trip.

But if you skipped that trip they would expire July 31, 2027.

As said, you can't bank points more than once. What you could do is next year when you need 200 points, you could borrow from the following year's points allocation. Again, borrowing like banking is final. You can't un-borrow points. So that will leave you short the following year. But it will let you book that trip.

OTUP can only be purchased for bookings within the 7 month window, you won't be able to buy them for an 11-month booking.

Your Jan 2027 trip is in your Aug 2026 UY.

You can used banked 2025, 2026 and borrowed 2027.

It sounds like you banked 7 2025, which should show 107 points for your Aug 2026 UY.

That’s what you have to use without borrowing. To get 125, you need to borrow from 2027.

So, just check your dashboard and see what 2026 UY says…and go from there.

If you skip the January 2027 trip, you can only bank 100 2026 UY points, not 107 because the 7 have already been banked.

Those 7 will be lost if you don’t go.

Question. Trying to understand borrowing and banking.
Contract December use year
Reservation with:
85 points 2024 use year banked to 2025
85 points 2025 use year
77 points 2026 use year borrowed into 2025

Reservation is November. Need to cancel.
I know I need to use the 85 for 2024 rolled to 2025 by 11/30/26
I know I can still bank 85 2025 use year
The 77 borrowed to 2025 from 2026, can they be banked to 2026 or must they be used by 11/30/2026?

When you borrow points, they essentially become part of the UY you borrowed them into, and are then unbankable. Those points are the same as the points you previously banked from 2024 to 2025 - must be used by 11/30/26. SOMEtimes, a call to Member Services to explain your situation might help with them undoing the borrowing - but those types of 'fixes' are one-offs and probably depends on your circumstances. It can't hurt to ask, but don't expect help - just be glad if they can actually undo the borrowing.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions.

Only the 85pts originating in 2025 UY can be moved.

Sorry :(

Sometimes DVC member services make one allowance as new members are learning the ropes. There is a small chance they help you with the 77 borrowed points. I’d try that first. If they cannot help, then figure out next step.

Thanks. I knew that borrowed point in essence change their use year. I just wasn’t sure if when the use year they went to could still be banked, if they could be banked also. I need to make another reservation before 11/30, I just wanted to figure for sure how many points I needed to use for it. I appreciate your explanations.
