UY and AKV Question...

I read the UY thread by CarolMN...
I am about to purchase AKV with a Dec UY.
I just want to make sure I got it right...
Example:
If I get 200 pts. Dec 2008...
I can bank 2008 points by the end of July 2009... 200
I can use these Dec 2009-Nov 2010...

Get new points Dec 2009... 200

Can I borrow 73 points from 2010
473pts. to book AKV SV Christmas week 2009?
Is this correct?

And then if I need to cancel I could still bank my 2009 pts (200) by July 2009
but I would have to use the banked and borrowed pts. 273 by the end of Nov 2010???

Also...
Is there any difference between the old AKV and the New One???
Is it all the same DVC?
One more...
Do DVC points per night stay the same forever???
I understand the dates can shift a little.

You've got a good understanding of the banking/borrowing. You could have 473 points by doing what you describe.

AKV ownership at both Jambo and Kidani are the same. AKV points may be used at 11 months to reserve in either building - just as OKW owners of Building 34 may reserve the HH area at the resort and BWV owners of unit 21B (I made that up), may reserve a standard view studio in unit 28A at 11 months.

The DVC point charts CAN be changed - and without consultation from members. The total number of points at any resort cannot be changed, but how those points are distributed for use can be changed by DVC to equalize usage at the resort. In fact, this has happened only once - starting in 1996 at OKW when some nights were rasied a few points, some were lowered a few points and many saw no change at all. Each year, the dates for Easter and Thanksgiving will vary, but the points for those "seasons" will not change - but OKW has had one reallocation of the point charts.

Since 1996, DVC has had many opportunities to modify the point charts as new resorts opened. Thus far they have not found the need to reallocate the points as they did on 1996.

For reference, here is a comparison of the OKW Point Charts from 1991 - 1995 and 1996 to present:

Points listed are for Studio, 1BR, 2BR, GV (weekday/weekend) respectively from 1991 thru 1995:

As WebmasterDoc stated, you have an excellent understanding of banking/borrowing.

However, I wanted to toss in one caveat. If you are purchasing your points directly from Disney, then you may (actually most likely are) getting Kidani points. In general this doesn't matter. However, it does mean that you can't use your points until your unit actually opens. In your example, I don't think that it matters, I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of this gotcha.

If the OP is buying AKV Dec UY 200 points, does that mean he gets 2008's 200 points, plus 200 Developer points to be used at SSR, DLR, or II, and then next December gets 2009's 200 points?

Yes, but Developer points can´t be banked.....
