I am just back from a 3 night cruise on the Utopia of the Seas and I have to say I was very impressed. The ship first of is beautiful and very large. The food (mostly did specialty dining) was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the Mason Jar for Bruch on embarkation day.

The drink package was a must for me and I certainly took advantage of being able to try different cocktails without feeling the pressure of paying 14 dollars each.

We also booked Hideaway Beach for our Coco Cay day and that was better than I expected. What a great way to relax or party (your choice) while on the island.

Speaking of the island...what do we think is it Cay (KAY) or Key (Key just like a lock and key)? This was a topic of discussion the entire trip!

If you are thinking about Utopia I would hesitate no longer. Book it!

Thanks for the review. What type cabin did you have?

Did you go to the ice show and see the parade in the Royal Promenade? I follow one of the ice skaters on YouTube, and she shows all the behind the scenes of the ice show.

I believe I follow the same performer...we did catch part of the ice show and it was good. The show in the aqua theater blew me away and I don't typically like shows similar to that but it was impressive. The main stage show was also good for an original production. We did not catch the parade on the royal promenade.

Glad to hear it! We'll be sailing on Utopia in the near future. 😃

So DH and I call Castaway Cay "KEY," but for CocoCay we call it "KAY" because it rhymes with Perfect Day (and I guess, in the song they pronounce it that way, too). I've heard either is correct, and I've heard both pronunciations for both private islands. :-)

did you find a 3 night cruise felt short?
Speaking for myself, not the OP, but I felt like it was a fine length. :) BUT that might be because we have cruised on Wonder OTS before (7 nights), and the ships were very similar, so we learned the areas of the ship quickly - therefore spent less time learning the ship and more time enjoying the activities and whatnot.

I do think it is possible we will sail on Utopia again just to be on it longer. I'm sure people do back-to-backs so it feels like a week-long cruise.

Thanks for the insight.
We have only done 4 and 7 night cruises. On either, we always talk about how it would seem premature to have to get off after just 3 nights. But then by the 4th night we start to talk about how we are starting to feel ready to go home. There shouldn't be such a difference between just 24 hours - maybe it depends on how much we've eaten/drank on night 3!

Yeah I could have used at least one more night. It was still great but 3 was just a little shorter than I would have liked. Especially on a new ship. However, I could see this being a great way for someone nervous about cruising to dip their toes in the water and see if they like it.

Thanks for your review! My daughter and I will be sailing on Utopia in February. Looking forward to the Mason Jar and the Royal Railway-Utopia Station dinner - can't believe we got reservations for that, it sounds like a cool experience.

We are planning on doing the Hideaway Beach during our Coco Cay day. I have watched some YouTube videos where it has mostly a party-like atmosphere, but I wanted to ask if you noticed any quieter areas there? Thanks so much!

Thank you for the review, definitely a ship I want to get on.

We did the Mason Jar for embarkation brunch. It was very good.

As far as Hideaway Beach...you can hear the music in most areas (obviously some louder than others based on proximity to the DJ booth in the pool) however, we tended to stay to the far end of the infinity pool away from the DJ and had plenty of space and respectable music level that it didn't bother us at all. Basically, if you want to be in the middle of the party you can and if not, you can find spots away from that DJ booth and bar that will leave you at ease.

It's also worth mentioning that there are multiple bars so don't feel like you need to go to the swim up or walk up one that is covered by the pool. That will also help with some peace and quiet. This was my first time going there and I will absolutely buy this every cruise.

We were there a few weeks ago, and found that it was very easy to get away from the louder parts.

Do you think Utopia deserves a "party ship" reputation? Is it that different from other Oasis-class ships? My 13-year-old daughter and I are thinking about going this summer, but I don't want it to be a total frat party. We did the Allure of the Seas last year and loved that.
