Utah Days?

UEA(Fall break as they call it now) is October 15&16 this year.

It matters because ALL Utah schools close for those 2 days making it a 4 day weekend. Many people from Utah converge on Disneyland then.

What days in October will be affected by the Utah convention for 2015?
The convention is October 15th and 16th. I imagine that week prior and the weekend after will be affected.

Why would something in Utah affect Disneyland?
Because several families from Utah come to DLR during this time since school is out. I think the acronym around here for the UEA is Utah Escapes to Anaheim.

You learn something new every day. Thanks!

I was trying to switch our dates for a Sunday, October 18 arrival. I'm guessing most of the Utah crowds will be heading back home that Sunday for school on Monday but after following the above link I noticed The CityWalk race is that Sunday the 18th. Will the parks be greatly affected Sunday and Monday from the race? We only have a few days to stay and I keep going back and forth on staying the 18-24 or 24-30. Any local advice is greatly appreciated! We visit WDW often but have no idea when we will have a chance to get back to DLR so I really want to make the most out of our trip!

The CHOC Walk event will have an effect on crowds -- it will be crowded. That's also Columbus Day weekend, and many people are off of work or school, so that will have somewhat of an impact as well.

The CHOC Walk is on October 11, but CityRace Disneyland is happening on the 18th. From what I can tell, those are two different events/organizations. Jenhelgren, we don't hear a lot about the CityRace events here on the Disboards, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a big impact on the crowds. I would guess that you'll see a slight uptick in crowds due to the walk, but not as much as is normally seen for the CHOC walk.

That explains it -- I was wondering what the CityWalk event was! :lmao:

Yeah, I don't know much about the CityRace events, but I saw them mentioned previously. Because they do specifically tie to either DL or DCA, I included them in the 2015 Calendar of Events. They're part of something called RaceLA and seem to happen several times per year (there was one in January and March, an upcoming ones in October and December).

Sorry! I was reading about both events and somehow typed a combo of the two! Lol
I need some DLR expert advice :)
Which of those weeks would you stay? We will be arriving the day of the race on the 18th but the following week will be Halloween week and my husband and I have a strict Disney pact that he will participate as long as its not a crazy crowd week!!!!!

I found an older thread (2014) that talked about CityRace being a very small event (~150 people). Based on that, it seems like it won't really impact crowds in the parks.

Am I correct assuming most of the Utah visitors will leave Sunday afternoon to get back for work and school on Monday? I think I have convinced myself into the week of the 18th but the week of the 24th is lower priced for DLR hotels except the PPH which is the same both weeks:oops:

I only skimmed the five largest school districts in Utah's calendars and two of them have the Monday (10/19) off as well. For the most part, yes, I think the Utah school district folks will be heading back to Utah on Sunday or Monday, so the rest of the week should be okay.

What kind of crowds are we talking about for UEA? We're going from the 12th to the 16th, knowing Monday is Columbus Day and that later in the week is the UEA. It's DS's fall break, so we're locked in. Are the crowds like typical summer crowds or more like Christmas crowds? A crowded day at Disneyland is still better than being at work, so we'll make the most of it either way. :-)

Last year we arrived on the Sunday at the tale end of Utah's break. (My kids happen to go off track from school at UEA break). Sunday was very busy but it was more locals than Utah people. After that, the crowds were very manageable.

As for just how crowded it is? We've been the week of UEA before and it was not as crowded as it was when we were just there last week. But it is more crowded than you'd expect for "off season".
