Hi everyone,
We are booked for Sept 16-23 at CBR and was wondering if it is possible to upgrade your resort using your airmiles? (we booked through a travel agent if that makes a difference) Was wondering if it would be possible because we will have a 6 month old baby (along with our 3 year old) and the more I think of it, the more I want to be on the monorail for ease....thanks for any help you can give.

S

To the best of my knowledge the answer is no.

You can use your airmiles to get park tickets so that might free up the cash to pay for the upgrade.

If you book your package through Marlin Travel then you can use airmiles to pay the bill.

You can book a room through airmiles and pay for it using your airmiles but you have to go directly through them. When you call ask for a Disney reservation specialist and tell them you want to book a room at Disney.

I have like 200 AM, guess that won't help, I use them all the time to buy us a movie night out :)

I only have about 900 or so, so I am not that much better off. And I have been collecgting a very long time. About the only place I collect them is sthe liquor store. I haven't cashed them in for about 6 or 7 years.

When I called to inquire they told me that it was $1 for 7 airmiles. So what ever the price of the resort is that they charge you, you would multiply that by 7 to get the total airmiles needed.

That's not bad if you stay at a value resort in value season, but the OP wants to upgrade from a mod to a monorail resort. That would be MEGA miles.

I have turned into an avid AM collector. In the beginning I only collected about 3500 AM over about 13 years. In 2007 I cashed in my miles for WDW tickets, which wiped out my account. I even had to buy a few miles to complete the transaction. Since Jan '07 I have collected 4200 AM. I got the AM Amex which gave a bonus of 350 miles and I use it to pay for my DD's competitive dancing which costs about $5000 per year. I collect at Metro, Shell and have my HBC points converted to AM. I had over 1 million HBC which I never used. Metro has a lot of bonuses every week and I try to take advantage of those.

Hello!

I too save my airmiles for vacation stuff :goodvibes
I always check the "offers of the week" that are discounted. In 2008, on one specific week, they had the Universal Studios Orlando 7 day pass at discountned points so I got them since those tickets never expire until you use it. We just used the tickets last week!!!! I also have the Amex airmiles credit card and always shop on ebay.ca and amazon.ca which both give you airmiles. I also often go to IGA, Shell, Rona, Iris (optometrist) that all give you airmiles. I'm saving up all my miles to purchase more theme park tickets for the future :)

FYI - BMO also has an Airmiles Mastercard, and they are changing the card so that there is no annual fee. As you can likely tell, I too collect Miles fairly rabidly! The best year I had was when DS was in daycare, and you could pay the monthly cost via MC.....which gathered me a few hundred miles a month! The best way I find to earn Miles is to put everything on my Mastercard, and of course also use my Airmiles card at sponsors (i.e at LCBO) and just ensure I pay my MC off all the time, so no interest charged...I generally get a few thousand Miles a year and always use the Miles for the 3 day base ticket and then upgrade at WDW.....

There are 2 ways to use Airmiles to pay for Disney resorts.

1.) Phone Airmiles and book a package (cannot be room only) with them and apply the Airmiles to the total cost.

2.) Go to the Airmiles.ca website and order $50 vouchers for Marlin travel for 375 Airmiles. They can be used to pay for a package booked through Marlin travel.

You can also get discounts such as the 4/3 offers that are applicable to your time of travel on top of using Airmiles to pay for the cost of the package. However you cannot book a package with Airmiles or Marlin travel and get the CAA rate.

You can book room only with Airmiles all you have to do is call and ask as I called to find out how many airmiles it was to book a room only. Airmiles deals with Holiday House and they get their rates from them.

We stayed at CBR for my ds's first trip....he was barely a year old. Consider staying. It's a lovely calm resort. I really enjoyed our daily stroller walk around the lake. S :hippie:

I LOVE Airmiles!!!!

We are huuuuge collectors. We have the BMO Mastercard, which allows you 25% off the amount of airmiles that you need to book flights. We just booked 5 tickets from SK to California for a disneyland vacation in the fall and used 8810 airmiles.

We stack up the miles quickly by shopping at Safeway and using the MC for just about everything!

We also used them to purchase 5 DLR passes and $200 in Gift Certificates for Best Western.

Before booking things for this trip, we've used them for other flights, car rentals and numerous merchandise items.

Disney Tickets, Universal tickets and Seaworld tickets. This year I am buying Best Western certificates. I can use them to book our Park-n-fly package in Portland, Maine. They keep my car for a month free!

I am also using it for the Best Western in Miami where we are taking a Carnival cruise before our Disney cruise. The hotel picks us up at the airport and takes us to the cruise ship the next day included!!!

There are so many options with airmiles and travelling!!!!:banana::banana:

We have been collecting for a couple of years and have the Gold BMO card and always look for bonus miles. So far we have used them for 2 flights to Disney last year, 2 flights to Vegas last year and we used them for 5 flights to Disney in 2010 as we are taking my son, niece, nephew and sister.

I love Airmiles!!!!

I just used my airmiles to get $200 USD coupons for National Car - so now our car rental for our 9 day trip at end of Aug will only cost me around $70!
