Using TS for a Guest

Hi, DISers-

First, please don't flame me. I am not trying to get away with anything sneaky or break any rules. I just have an honest question and will abide by whatever is correct by Disney standards.

We are traveling to WDW in a couple of weeks and have paid for the DDP for four adults (our kids are classified as adults). We also used the DDP in July and loved it; at that time, I was told that the credits were ours to use any way we wished.

So here is my question: I would like to invite my folks to eat dinner with us one evening and treat them to dinner (they live within a couple of hours). I would also like to use my TS credits for them.

I do have a DDE card and will use that if this is a problem. I was just wondering if I could use my TS credits to pay for their meal...

I didn't have a problem when I used a TS for my ex-husband at boma. We had an extra one left over, so I asked him to join us( he lives in orlando).

there was a HUGE debate about this a while back. It seems to me the consensus was that the credits were non transferable and only to be used by the guests staying at the resort.

I'm new here, so I don't know the history behind the controversies over the DDP, but a credit is a credit, and not one CM cared who was actually using the credits where we dined. I paid for a friend, I paid for my aunt, and on the last day when I had 2 left, I paid for 2 strangers LOL I literally said 'would anyone like a free meal?' and the first person who raised their hand, got their food compliments of my dining card all with the knowledge of the CM.

The CM just takes the card and then you say "take 'x number' off this card, thanks."

Does anyone actually believe that Disney loses money? LOL in Vegas the house always wins, and at Disney, the mouse always wins.

We had a free DP, but I more than made up for it in other spending because I rationalized 'our food's free, so I'll buy this!'.

I see nothing wrong with treating your guests or companions with your dining credits. Over the course of our trip this last week, there were several meals where we had more than one family sitting at the table. Most were on the dining plan, some weren't. We had so many extra counter service that I did buy counter service meals for more than my kids on two occasions. I was entitled to 27 counter service meals, and we still had some left over.

You may get flamed for doing it. I'm sure I'll get flamed for doing it... but Disney did not care if I purchased 4 or 5 counter service meals at a time when we only had 3 adults listed on my card.

Sorry, but the Dining Plan is non-transferable. What previous guests have gotten away with doesn't indicate what is or is not the rules of the plan.
