Using transferred points

I have two contracts - one at AKL and one at BLT. Different use years and different contract numbers. I recently had 77 points transferred to me for Boardwalk (in my AKL contract). Now, the reservation I want to book is 104 points, so I am 27 short. I know I could wait til 7 months and use my AKL points. But I am trying for a standard view studio, and thinking it will be gone by 7 months.

I am trying to figure out if this scenario would work. I know you can only get one transfer in/out per year. If (and I know this is a big if), I found someone to transfer me 27 points for Boardwalk that would work for my Aug 2020 trip, could I transfer them to my BLT contract, since I haven't transferred in/out of that one yet? And if so, could I then call member services on the 11 month mark day and use the points from both transfers to make 1 reservation?

Transfer limits are “per membership”, not “per contract”.

Thanks for clarifying! I do have two different "membership" numbers. I'm not sure if it goes by that, or by member name, because that would be the same on both.

If they are two different membership numbers, then you can transfer once per UY in or out of each of them. However, you cannot use two different memberships to make a single reservation. The best that you can do is to make two separate reservations using the transferred points and then ask MS to note the two as continuing stays so that you don’t need to move.

Booking two separate reservations and linking them(so you shouldn't change room) should not be a problem. Since you are looking for Aug 2020 you still have until Sept 2019 to get the additional transfer. Otherwise you could team up with an owner and rent points from him to make the additional reservation and then get the reservations linked.

Most owners dont want to transfer just 27 points unless that is what they have left - odds are small.

You might need more or less than 27 points to book your remaining night(s). You won't be able to combine the left over points from the one contract with the new points you get transferred into the second membership.

Yes I figured it might be tough to get that little of points transferred. I could book 5 nights at 76 points, then just need 2 nights at 28 points.

I was also just realizing that my use year is August, and I had the points transferred this month. Next month, since it starts a new use year, could I potentially get a point transfer again to that same membership? And then use both transfers to make 1 reservation?

That will depend on which Use Year your recent transfer went into. You are currently in your 2018 Use Year.

If it went into your 2019 Use Year, that will be your only allowed transfer for the 2019 UY and you could accept another transfer in August into your August 2020 UY.

A transfer may be made into/out of the current and next Use Year ... and that could even be done with the same phone call to MS.

Sorry, I can’t help, but I never knew you could use transferred points at 11 months for other resorts except your home.

Yes, the transfer points retain their home priority. That is why you might want some other home resort points, so you can book at the 11 month home priority window.
