I have a free dining package booked for Augiust. My check in day is the first day of free dining. I am now able to get down to WDW two days earlier than i thought. I was thinking of just getting room only ressies since i cant extend the free dining. My question is, since i am not going to use all the days of my park passes since we planned a couple pool days would we be able to start using the tickets when we arrive two days early? The price to buy additional two day passes is crazy.

1. would we be able to start using the tickets when we arrive two days early?

2. The price to buy additional two day passes is crazy.

1a. Yes.

2. Not necessarily.
I first have to ask... How many "days" of tickets do you have now?

1b. Just take your resort package info (and photo ID) to any Guest Relations outside any park
UP TO 3 DAYS BEFORE CHECK-IN and the CM will activate your package tickets on-the-spot.

We have enough park days on our passes to make up for the extra days since we built in pool/rest days so this is awesome. I was originally told i would need to buy additional two day passes since our original tickets wouldnt be able to be activated until the package arrival date. Thank you so much :)

The Disney reps you speak to on the phone seem to be trained to tell you "no." It's confusing, because Park Guest Relations CMs will let you have your package tickets early, up to 3 days before check-in. Good that you asked here. :)

Do we all have to be there to activate the tickets for my family or can my husband just go? I dont want to drag the kids to the park just incase they dont let us in, they will be crushed.

DH can go alone. But I'm confident it'll be OK. Have your package resort info with you and Photo ID. I have not read a single post here from people who failed to get their package tickets early at Park Guest Relations when following the 3-day before check-in guideline.

Additionally, there have been posts from guests who were staying at a resort for room-only, followed by a package stay at the same resort, who were able to pick up their package tickets in advance at the concierge desk of the resort. This is "iffy" (depends on the staff) but if both your stays are at the same resort, try it first.

Go to Post 15-I of the Ticket Sticky for technical explanation of early ticket pick-up. Posts are slightly out-of-date, but procedure is still correct. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684
