Using the Toy Story Parking shuttle from a nearby hotel?

Yes; just be aware the shuttle picks up at the back of the lot so it’s a bit of a walk through the lot itself.

We did this on our last trip (stayed at Cortona Inn) but agree with @hiroMYhero that it was still more of a walk than I'd hoped, so next time we are just going to stay closer. I will say that there was always a bus waiting or arrived within one minute both at the Toy Story lot and at DL when we were leaving.

Yes we have done it frequently from Homewood Suites, especially toward the end of our trips to save our feet.
