Using Someone Elses' Pass

Hmm - I've gotta wonder how accurate this is. We've done quick hops from one park to another - most notably racing out of MK after Wishes to catch Illuminations at EP. We've definitely done it within 30 mins (a couple of times last month in fact) and had no problem getting into EP with our APs.

Your ticket is not scanned on the way out of the park. It's the time when your ticket is scanned to ENTER the park.

The theory is that if you scan for entrance at two different parks too closely together, it may block the second entry. It has nothing to do with exiting. Whether it is true or not I don't know, but I can see why they might want some reasonable exclusion time in there. Although not impossible, getting between parks in 30 minutes is generally impractical, except for the DHS<=>Epcot Dash. Consider that you'd have to enter the park, do something (why would you enter it otherwise?), then exit and get to the other park...

Correct. The post I was replying to said they were able to watch Wishes, EXIT the park and then enter DHS within 30 minutes. They said they didn't have a problem entering DHS. My reply was that they did not ENTER MK and DHS within 30 mintues.

Yup...I should have included the post you were quoting as well...but then again, its a 5 month old post anyways :)

Since you have an AP, your name is printed on the pass. If a person's finger scan does not work we will normally ask for a photo ID to check the name matches the pass.

What if you don't have photo ID? I won't carry my photo ID(license) to the parks on concern that if I lose it, I won't be able to fly home.

So what happens when the fingerprint scan doesn't recognize me and the only ID I have doesn't have a photo?

Or is it highly unusual for a CM to bar entry without a photo ID?

I never saw AP but does it have a signature line, if yes, you can show your CC with matching signature. And they maybe will ask you to sign just to proove it. Years ago, we had to sign Universal tickets and they actually asked my father to sign to proove it was his signature. Just an idea, I am not sure if it will work.

You may want to reconsider...

Not only may you need a photo ID if your ticket doesn't work, but you will also possibly need it to order alcohol or to use charge products in the stores (credit).

So, I have 2 10 day park hoppers bought in 2008 with 6 days left on each. My husband and I used them but obviously no name association only the finger scan. What is to stop me from letting my mother and father have these tickets? We now have annual passes and plan to every year. If all that is associated is the finger scan, won't they just re-set the finger scan if they don't work?

If you signed the ticket they would have to have the same names. They may ask them where they got the tickets and the last time they used them.

An incorrect finger scan is different than an uncoded ticket, or an unreadable finger. You would likely be directed to Guest Relations, and unless you could provide some information that links you at least to the purchase of the tickets, I'd expect that you wouldn't be let in at all.

Not sure what kind of information woulbut d satisfy them that it is my pass. But that does suggst that a photo ID is not mandatory. I could show plenty of other ID (credit card, DVC member card, etc), but I'm not going to take my license into the parks and risk losing it (meaning I couldn't fly home).

What experiences have others had recently when the finger scan didn't match?

My answer was in relation to to a different question - about using someone else's ticket where the finger scan does not match at all, on a ticket that does not bear a specific name. A photo ID, and possibly additional information may need to be provided.

In the case of ANY problems with an AP (and there can be plenty), a positive photo ID is required. Even a DVC member ID only gets you the DVC member price, but you STILL need the ID.

You can choose NOT to bring your ID with you. But if you have problems you may have no choice to return and get it.

So what happens if you can't produce a photo ID?

I often enter the park without a wallet, carrying only my chargeable room card and a few dollars.

Seems to hard to think they would deny someone entry because the fingerprint scan didn't recognize you and the custimer didn't have photo ID, doesn't it?

But if they do allow entry, then that would in effect turn the AP into a transferrable AP.

Anyone seen or heard anyone being turned away because they didn't have photo ID? Or is any ID (without photo) acceptable at this Happy Place?

You have your chargeable room key, but no ID? What would you do if they wanted to check your ID when you made a purchase to make sure you were the right person charging on the card. They do do this occasionally and it is for your protection that they do. I always carry my DL with me to the parks.

I still have the original receipt for the 10 day tickets so what if I gave them that? I guess I just don't understand since the 10 day has NEVER had a name associated with it nor a signature in any way how they would know if someone else used it. The finger scan nenver works for me from time 1 to time 2 even on our AP. So if they used the remaining days on the 10 day and just went to Guest Relations to have the finger scan re-set how would that be any different than if the finger scan didn't work for me from 3 years ago?

The tickets are non-transferrable so your question is moot.

Most states will provide a duplicate license either free or for a nominal (~$10) charge. It seems like worthwhile insurance if you're concerned about losing yours.

Continuing to discuss how to get around the fact that tickets are NOT TRANSFERABLE will get this thread closed.

Get a state ID and carry that. I can't imagine it's a good idea to go anywhere without some form of picture ID. And it wouldn't be Disney's fault if you couldn't prove who you were with a photo ID because you just didn't want to bring it. So investing in a state ID is really a simple solution.

I don't have an opinion on the ticket switch issue but...

I misplaced my license two trips ago. I used it to check into the resort, put in the pocket of my shorts and then proceeded to put the shorts in the dirty clothes bag.

When we got to the airport to fly home- no license. I was afraid they wouldn't let me fly but they did. My SW boarding pass said SSSSSSS on the bottom and they told me I was a number 1. I had to undergo extra screening at security but that was it. This was in 2008. I'm not sure if they would allow it now.
