I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place to post this question, but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else.

A friend recently booked a DVC resort for me using RCI, where she is a member. I'm confused as to how check-in works under these circumstances and if there are any problems I can anticipate.

Have any of you used RCI?

Thank you.

You will need a Guest Certificate in your name. After that, it is very seamless. The confirmation will have the number for Member Services, plus a DVC reservation number. You can call MS to schedule Magical Express, sign up for the Dining Plan, etc. You will have to pay a $95 "resort services fee" upon check-in, and you will not be entitled to any Member perks. Otherwise, it's just like any other DVC stay.

Thank you so much.

How do I get a guest certificate in my name? Is that issued prior to my stay or when I get there? At that time, can I add my family to the resort?

Now that you mention it, I think my friend might have mentioned the words "guest certificate" during our conversation, but there were so many other details, I forgot.

The person gifting you the week must ask (and pay) for one. It must be done before you arrive.
