I read (on the internet - so who knows if its true) that Quickcutz dies could be used in the Sizzix machine with an "adapter". Does anyone who is lucky enough to have both tried this? Is the "adapter" the same one used for Sizzelits? The reason I ask is I already have the Sizzix machine and there are some Quickcutz dies I would like to use, but I don't want to spend my scrapbooking $$$ on another cutting system.

I own a sizzix and wanted to use the QK on it also. I had read many different places that you too can use the sizzix if you just use the adaptor and also use different shimmies to get the tension right, which varies from machine to machine. When I finnally got it to cut with the QK, my tension was so tight, I was afraid it was going to break. (Or atleast ruin the machine somehow).

I don't know if it just happened to be the die that I picked or my machine. But it has steered me away from mixing the too. I was trying to get away from having to buy a QK machine.
My 2cents

Good luck.

The square plastic pads that you place the die and paper on...cannot think of the name of them.

Oh. the cutter pad? Three of them?
This is what I've always seen recommended. I've read that the adaptor doesn't work well with the QK, but that 3 pads (and maybe a shim or two if necessary) will do the trick! :)

I know, this is a stupid question, what is a shim?

Just a piece of paper or cardstock cut to about the same size as the cutting pad. You add one if your dies aren't cutting through completely -- it gives a little "lift"; usually enough to make the cut nice and clean. :)

Oh, that sounds easy enough! I'm thinking about getting some of their dies,--they have some unusual ones that sizzix doesn't have! Thanks for all the info!:wave2:

OK, I caved in and bought a Quickcutz thanks to ILOVEPOOH's post about finding such a good deal. Now if it would only get here...
