Using/purchasing points

I have no idea if this is the right place to post this question but here it goes...
We are DVC members who get our points in August each year at SSR. Our next trip will be August 2018. At that time we will have 320 points to use and we need a 2 bdrm. We can stay at SSR standard view for 294 but would prefer to stay at BWV but that is 350 points for the week. I can purchase 15 points from DVC but still need another 15 points to make this work. What are my options? If we purchase points from another member what do I do to make this work, month/use year etc? I have done that before and it worked out great but I purchased points for use at SSR. Not sure how to get/use points for a resort that's not our home resort. I hope this all makes sense.....
Or do we just need to be content to stay at SSR?

You can purchase up to 15 points direct from Disney at the 7 month mark.

You can get up to 24 OTU points at seven months out. You might want to go ahead an book the stay at SSR standard and then see at seven months out what you might be able to get. Then just borrow a few points after getting the 24 OTU points.

I assume you have 160 SSR per year and will be borrowing the 2019 points to get to 320. I'd reserve SSR standard at 11 months and look for a transfer in the interim. Since you can't reserve before 7 months out for BWV (if I'm assuming correctly), then the home resort won't matter and the UY only matters if they work for that time. Alternatives would be to rent a night privately, from Disney or from DVC. If you could get standard view at BWV that might help but it's unlikely to be available at 7 months out.

Yep, it's definitely 24 points you can purchase as OTU points. The way I remember is because 25 points and above would be a new contract, which is why OTU is capped at 24.
