Using Public Transport?

so, we would like to go to a few places around Disneyland but we won't have a car.

I was wondering what the bus system is like. We were thinking of taking the bus from the Mickey and friends area, to up the street to In and Out. And from Disneyland to pop comics (about 2 miles or so from the resort).

Thanks!

Google Maps has a public transportation search option. You can enter a time and starting and ending points and it will give you options and time estimates, including walking distances.

Actually fairly good.

First off, an ART Shuttle pass also works on the OCTA Public Bus System.

Route 543 (or 43) runs up and down Harbor, and you take that north to Harbor and Orangethorpe to the In-n-Out. (So you need to get away from Disneyland Drive, and walk to Harbor Blvd).

Same for Pop Comics, also north up Harbor to Lincoln. (Closer than In-n-Out).

It is a very popular route with lots of buses per hour.

I did not know about the ART pass working on public transit , thanks for that tip for future reference !

They both are public transit systems. I decided to use ART once from Knott's to Disneyland to check out the new route (Buena Park Line), and showed my OCTA day pass, and the driver was totally confused. Had to call their supervisor, and I had to show the OCTA Bus Book that stated the fact that ART took them. That was a few years ago, and they should all know it now. (I donated by bus book to the ART Driver so he could share it with other drivers/management).

We just got back from Anaheim and did exactly this. We took bus 43 from Katella (near Subway). Bus was on time, we bought a daily pass for $5 each. We went to the comic book store near Fullerton Transportation Centre - much cheaper than the prices in AUS. There was also a small arcade area too.

We then took the bus back to In N out. There are also some shops around this area (Target, Best buys etc). Buses were quite regular, we never waited more than 10 minutes.

ART is great, as are the shuttles to/from the various hotels and DL. But if I want to go somewhere and don't want to wait (i.e. with young kids), Uber is nice. We used an Uber XL to transport three adults and two kids a couple of times last November and it was convenient and we never waited more than about five minutes.
