Priceline shows a rate that would save me $80 over what I can book directly for the same room. But, the fine print says "All rooms are booked for double occupancy (i.e. 2 adults) and accommodations for more than two adults are not guaranteed. ". Is this just a standard disclaimer, since clearly the room is for up to 5. Have never used Priceline and would hate to show up to the resort and be told there are too many of us.

All rooms are based on 2 adults, any other adults are $25.00 per night.
This is true even if booking thru Universal or Loews.

If you have 5 adults it would be $75.00 extra per night.

King suites are 3 adults, king rooms 3 adults..etc.

Okay, I see, thanks. Since it's DH and I and the kidlets, no problem.

I guess because I've never used Priceline, I'm suspicious of the "fine print" and worried about how it will work. But it appears that I can simply make the reservation as I would with any hotel directly.

If you book through Priceline, they are assuming that you will take a king bed room...you are not guaranteed a double room. You can try calling the hotel and trying to get a double room after you book but it isn't guaranteed. If this is a problem, I wouldn't book through Priceline.

We booked a room in NY through Priceline. We were 3 adults. We were given a king room - 3 people were allowed in it, but there was only one bed! The desk clerk said, Sorry, but only 2 people occupancy is guaranteed. Luckily, they were willing to move us - some hotels are not if you book Priceline.

Personally, I will no longer risk it. I'll book Priceline only if we're just 2 traveling.

Anytime I have ever booked a room through Priceline I was given a king room. No matter where we were staying.

Thanks everyone -- I ended up booking at Portofino thru Univeral online with the Annual Pass discount (will buy the AP when we get there). For the timeframe we're going (4th of July week) it was a pretty good deal. I think Priceline and similar will be more useful to DH and I in a few years, once the kidlets are older.

;)
