Using premium vouchers for other restaurants?

I just priced my hotel and tickets, and with the premium dining and $20 gift card, it's coming out about $50 cheaper to book the package via Costco than it is to go separately. Cancellation is not an issue for us, so that's not something I'm too worried about. I also love getting that pretty package in the mail! :hyper:

I seem to recall that you could use the premium dining vouchers for other restaurants at their face value - is that still the case? I don't really want to go to Goofy's or Ariel's, but could certainly use that card at Jazz Kitchen, Steakhouse 55, or somewhere else. Has anyone done this?

You can use them for their dollar value at any Disney restaurant. The restaurants in DTD are not Disney restaurants, so you can't use them at the Jazz Kitchen, Rain Forest, etc.. You can use it at Steakhouse 55.

Thank you! That makes sense, that I'd have to use them at one of the Disney hotel or park restaurants. I assume the "face value" is what they normally are sold for $43/adult & $23/child)?

Yes, but make sure you use them for more than the value. There is no change.

So the more expensive the better. Do they know if make you use them "per person", i.e.. if 4 of us are dining, we'd have to apply all 4, or could we use 2 at one restaurant and 2 somewhere else?

Can I just hop in here and get some clarification? If I were to get a Costco package it would include a dining voucher for each person. They can be used at any Disney restaurants, including counter service. Are the vouchers individual papers or is it just one voucher with all the credit on it? I am just wondering the best way to get full value out of the vouchers if they are used at counter service which is what we normally do.

You will get a voucher for each person. You can use them at CS restaurants, but I would only do that as long as I was planning on spending over $43 at the CS place. They will not give you change. Since these are essentially given to you for booking the package, it may not matter that you spend the entire voucher amount.

Thanks Girimama that was exactly the info I needed. There are five of us going and we could for sure hit $44 in one meal sitting. We would just use one voucher per meal and pay the rest with another form of payment. :)

Just looking for clarification: Me, DH, DS5, DS3, & DD1 are looking to book through Costco for Jan 5 - 9, 2014. We haven't been to DL since '06, so it's our first trip as parents and first chance to see WOC! We were so sad to see WOC will be down for refurb starting 1/7, so we definitely want to catch it on 1/6. But I'm worried about the crowds that night with it going dark for 6 weeks after that.
So I was considering booking WOC Dining on the 6th at Carthay Circle... until I saw it's $59 each! Could the Costco premium dining voucher be applied to WOC dining at CC? Also, today is the first day I could make those dining reservations... will they fill-up/sell-out because of the refurb? If so, how long do you think I can wait to decide?
Since we only get one shot at WOC, I have to get it right, especially with little ones!!!

  • Premium Disney Character Dining Experience
  • Not valid for World of Color Dinner Packages at Ariel's Grotto or Wine County Trattoria but may be applied up to its retail price at any other Disney owned and operated full-service or counter-service restaurant at the Disneyland Resort.
  • Not valid for alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, room service, holiday buffets or merchandise.
  • Not valid at outdoor carts or restaurants at the Downtown Disney District.
  • Not valid in combination with other discounts or promotions.
  • Vouchers are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable. No change given. Separate theme park admission may be necessary.
  • Restaurant seating is subject to availability — reservations are recommended. Dining locations, hours, menus, character appearances and all other elements are subject to change without notice.
  • Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.
Either they haven't updated this to include Carthay, or you can apply the voucher's value there and pay the difference. I wouldn't 100% plan on it being accepted, to be on the safe side.

We used ours at Blue Bayou and the Cove Bar in DCA~ I would just make up the difference in cash in order to never lose money.

Just don't do what I did and forget to use them. I bought 8 Mickey Mouse Bat cookies and 2 graveyard cupcakes at Starbucks in DCA the day we left to use them up!:crazy2:

Don't you hate that?? When I first got my AP, I kept forgetting to ask for a discount because I wasn't used to it. Shortly after we had a big, expensive meal at BB, I remembered that I could have gotten a hefty discount with my pass. Doh!

Hard to say how busy they would be. I would think you could still book something a month out, but hard to know for sure. Your cheapest option would be WCT lunch. It's about $32 per adult.

Yes...they usually have exclusions with the vouchers when it comes to WOC dining.

I hate to bring this back but I want to be sure I'm clear before I make my reservations. The individual person wouldn't need to spend $44, it could be applied to the whole party's meal bill, right? I was thinking of using these for Cafe Orleans, Pacific Wharf Cafe, and maybe one other CS place. I don't think at any place any one of us would hit the dollar value as an individual diner, but together we could easily rack up that bill. :goodvibes Its the "non-transferable" language that makes me hesitate.

Yes, that's right! That's exactly what we did.

Thank you, DizMe! Now, it adds even more flexibility to my absolutely torturous dining decisions. One day I'm going to go for a week, just so I have enough time fit in all the meals I want. :goodvibes
