I was looking at the book that dvc sent me and noticed that Orange Beach, AL is a choice in the "places where you can go worldwide".

Does anyone know exactly which resort in orange beach this is good for?

My book says "Escapes! to the Gulf at Orange Beach"

OK I found it.............it looks like it is the Palm Beach Condominiums.....very nice.

Anyone have any clue about how many points this would be?

You will be much better off renting at one of the Phoenix properties or at some of the new (Lighthouse, Turquoise Place) condos going up than using your points IMHO. My FIL owns a condo at Phoenix East and I know that it would be nowhere near $2700/week (assuming $10/point is a good value).

Orange Beach/Gulf Shores/Perdido Key is a great place to go to the beach. Much. much nicer than any Atlantic beaches. If you want to rent, look at one of the main realty holders there. Brett-Robinson and Kaiser are two that come to mind...

We go to gulf shores/orange beach all the time....we are only 4 hours from there....so we know how nice it is. The whole idea for me is to not come out of pocket to go to the beach. We have 100 points that we have to use by feb. and I don't think we will make it back to disney by then since we just got back this month.

I was just wondering how many points it would be for say a long weekend .........if it is too many we don't even have to go.....it was just a thought.

If this is your intent, I would not use Interval International as you would have to use 160 points or so at a time. A better option may be the Club Intrawest in SanDestin through the Buena Vista Trading Company. I believe that you can do night by night there, certainly you can get a few nights for 100 points. Remember, you will have the $95 fee on this as well...

BTW, what part of Alabama are you in? We live in Chelsea (Birmingham area)...

WOW 160 points is a lot.......I am new to all this so I am not sure how the trading works............we have not even closed yet.........i am just thinking ahead. The points were banked from 2007 by the person we are buying from. after we close we will only have until feb. to use them. There are also 56 points available for 2008.

Tidefan---I am from Hoover.......not far from you at all! It's nice to meet you!

I think I saw somewhere that you can now trade II for shorter stays, less than a week.

Tidefan- We are from Troy and just moved our daughter just outside of Chelsea at Forrest Lakes. She teaches at Wilsonville. Nice to meet you!:thumbsup2
