Using points from diferant Home resorts

We are closing next week on our first purchase into DVC, 150 pts at WLV. We are already thinking about an add on at the Boardwalk. When making a reservation at the 11 month window can you combine the points from the two or do you have to do it at the 7 month window because some of the points are from an other resort?

You only get the 11 month window for the number of points you actually own at a resort. If your reservation requires you to use more than what you own, you have to either wait until the 7 month window opens, or make a partial reservation at the 11 month window and then complete the reservation at the 7 month window.

Some multi-resort owners reserve the weekdays at the 11 month window and then add the more costly weekend nights at the 7 month window, as those tend to book more slowly than weekdays.

To reserve a standard view at BWV, you almost have to use the 11 month window. Those ressies are very, very tough to get at 7 months.

Another option Carol didn't mention is to bank and borrow points. If you needed more points than your one year's worth at BWV, you could still book there at the 11 month window and borrow (or plan ahead and use banked) the additional points you need from next year's allotment at BWV.

A lot of folks do this to alternate resorts year by year. Bank at BWV this year, stay at VWL with this year's and borrowed points. Next year used the banked and current at BWV, and so forth.
