Question..

Our family of five wanted to go on a week cruise at a level 4 room (fits 5) and I'm claustrophobic, must have access to outdoors; it says in my handy dandy "Dream" book for DVC that my points are 256...but then in fine print it says "per person" so does that mean 256 for both my husband and I or all five of us even our younger children? Could it mean it would cost 1250+ points for the cruise??

any help would be great! :)

That's probably correct - 250 pts per person. It takes a lot of points to go on a cruise. We did a 4 night last summer using point for me and dh, we paid cash for ds.

The 2008 vacation planner lists the first and second person at 256 points each and depending on the age of your children, between 89 and 120 points each for a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise. I don't know for sure if you can put a 5th child in your cabin because they only list prices for a 3rd and 4th child. So you may have to get a second cabin to accommodate all 5 members of your family. It could be a pretty expensive trip for you point-wise. It's much cheaper to pay cash if you possibly can.

A cat. 4 will hold 5 people. The 256 is for the first two people (per person). Then they will charge different rates for the kids, depending on age. They will charge you the same points for the 5th person as the 3rd and 4th. So look at the bottom of the chart for the points for the kids. It will likely cost you around 800 points total.
