Using points for other places besides Disney

I have seen some posts where people ask about specific places like Aruba, St. Johns etc.

I was curious if those of you who have used your points for other places besides the DVC Collection.

For example the Worldpassport or Concirge collection.

I have other time shares that I use with II all the time. In speaking with Disney they don't have any more "pull or clout" then any other II trade, so I wouldn't want to use my points for that.

But there are some places, like Canada, Mexico etc in the World Passport and the points seem very reasonable.

Would love to hear where people have gone, the ease of the trade and what they thought of the resorts / experience.

This year we have to use 146 points. (now thru March 30). We were trying to decide going back to Disney as we have annual passes this year or going somewhere else. Right now I made reservations at Disney but for this year or future would love ideas.

I don't know who or what area you spoke to at Disney about this, but in my experience (albeit somewhat limited, only 3 trades through II to date) I most certainly have had "trading clout."

Every one of the trips was in what was defined a high season, so for our 2Brs with great views at Marriotts and Westins in popular (read: prime Caribbean) locations I paid 270 points. A similar 2BR at my DVC home resort (BWV, preferred/BW view) ran at least 320 for the same time periods. If DVC didn't have "trading clout" (ergo demand from outsiders to trade in being higher than demand of member to trade out), the point charges would have been more equivalent.

Interesting,,,,I will have to call back and ask a different person.

With II is it different points for different places/sizes of units etc.

it isn't just xxx points = studio
xxx points - 1 br

etc.
