How can this work? I am only using my points for one person and the rest of us will be paying cash. Can we still book the cruise next year, then apply the points when the time rolls around? My husband doesn't think so. Experts what do you think?

DVC members can book cruises 11 months in advance. The points will be applied at the time of the reservation and, if later cancelled, will become "Reservation Points". These points cannot be used at DVC resorts.

There are currently no reservations being accepted past Dec. 28, 2004 by DCL. No rates have been released for 2005 0r 2006.

There is no crossover from cash reservations through DCL or a TA compared to those through MS on points or a combo of points/cash. What you could do is make your best choice for just cash and go ahead and schedule that when the time comes. Then when the points option opens up you can look at the specifics including number of points and also the total cash outlay. You may find the cash is about the same just using cash vs doing a combo of points and cash. Even then you may have to make a reservaiton before the points schedule comes out and may not know exactly how many points the one person will be.

You will lose the specific room you reserved with cash but might be able to get it back with points.
