Using points for Dining Plan/Tickets

There is a discussion on the Cruise board about using DVC points for a cruise. One position is that even though using points for a cruise seems like a poor value (based on $10 per point), it doesn't take into account food and entertainment value on a cruise. That got me thinking . . .

Wouldn't it be great if we could use points to pay for the Dining Plan or Park tickets? Now that might not always be a good use of points, but there are years (like this one) where I have extra points I'm going to bank that I would gladly use toward our dining plan in February.

I'd love to see a way to convert points for other uses in Disney--especially when you have a handfull of points left.

it will be very nice if we could do that. lets say 1 day should be around 5 points. that seems like a fair price for both sides.

It would be nice, but I don't see it every happening. Disney would be losing money. They already have our money for those points and are hoping that by us prepaying for our resort stays we come on site and shell out even more $$ on dining, tickets and souvies.

Disney typically values points used for exchanges at no more than $5, so figure that a day of Dining Plan would cost at least 8, probably 9 points, for adults, and probably 3 or maybe even as many as 4 points for young children.

Would you go for that exchange?

Didn't think so.

Which is why you definitely won't see it offered, even if they were inclined to consider making such an offer.

Plus you can't use points for non-real estate/trip purchases by timeshare laws.

Will be niece, but will never happen.
