Hi all,

I have made a cash ressie for two staterooms for a cruise in Feb '05. At some point in the future can I pay for one of the rooms with points if I want to? What is the procedure to make the change and is there any time limit ?

Thanks!

You cannot transfer the reservation to points, if that is what you are asking. Cash cruise reservations and DVC points cruise reservations are two separate things. If you want to switch one room to points you will have to cancel the cash reservation and then book through DVC. If you are trying to keep connecting rooms you can talk to the DCL rep when you cancel the cash reservation but I'm not sure if they can guarantee you'll get the same room.

I actually have a Cat 3 and Cat 4 booked- connecting rooms. I was thinking that it might work better for me to pay for the 1st and 2nd passenger (in the Cat 4 only) with points. Is this definitely not doable? Financially it doesn't make that much of a difference but it would be a smaller cash outlay for me at one time.

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for your post Michelemouse

I had two category 6 rooms booked with a cash reservation. I wanted to change one of the rooms to a points reservation. I had to cancel out the cash reservation and then call DVC to book the points reservation. I let the DCL reservation agent know that I was going to be calling DVC to re-book the room right after I hung up with her. She said that she couldn't hold the room but that there were several other connecting 6's that were available should that room not be availble when I got throught to DVC. I think there are far less 3/4 connectors than connecting 6's so I don't know what your chances are. You might call DVC and ask if there is anyone waiting for a Category 4 (who would be put into the room when you cancel) before you cancel it out.

DVC Member Services is treated just like a travel agency when they make a booking on DCL. Even though both DVC and DCL are owned by Disney they are run independently. That's why we cannot book a DCL reservation more than 11 months out and then convert it to points when the booking window comes around.

If you still have questions why not call DCL directly. I'm sure they can help you with any concerns you have.
