Okay, so we're shut out of GCV for Half Marathon weekend and were looking at using points at either DLH or GCH and get a standard room.

Help me think this through.....

Do we pay an additional "booking fee"?

Also, we'd like to WL a GCV stay in the slim chance it would become available. How would we time that so as not to run into penalties/holding with points already used for a DLH or GCH reservation?

They do not have the $95 fee for booking at the DL hotels. However, once you book them the points you use become reservation points and cannot be used to book a regular DVC room so unless you have another use for the reservation points you would not want to book the room and waitlist for VGC. You would want to try a waitlist for VGC first and then if that doesn't fill at some point book PP or DLH or GC and consider that a done deal.

As Kathy said, once you book DLH or GCH, you cannot change the reservation to VGC. First thing I would do is call and see if there is any availability for DLH or GCH on points. Before VGC opened, I tried to get a GCH room on points and could not even though the cash website showed availability. Only a limited number of rooms are available for points at Disney Collection hotels.

If there is no availability, then I would book cash and waitlist for VGC. Since it's an event weekend, your WL possibility is very low. I had a Friday night at the end of September waitlisted about 3 months out and it never came through. We decided to stay an extra night for the first MNSSHP. We stayed at PPH on cash.
