I know it is probably not the best use of points but my parents seem to have an abundance and they want to take another Disney cruise. Question is if they want to use their points for one person and pay cash for the 2nd person. How is that cash price determined? Is it based on what the going rate that that cruise is being booked at or a different formula? Thanks for any info.

Each year Member Services contracts with Disney Cruise Line to determine a set cash price for people booking a cruise with DVC. This price is usually somewhere in between the most expensive and the lowest discounted prices that DCL offers. It does allow those wanting to use points for one or more to add on someone else under cash discount.

Remember, the first two people in the stateroom will be booked at adult rate regardless of their age. So for example, one adult and two children would be booked at a price of two adults and one child.

Not only is the contract price usually a fair amount more than the early booking discount price, it's due in full at the time of the reservation on a DVC booked cruise.
