Does anyone know if you can use your Disney Vacation Club Points at the Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary Hotels?
How does the point system Work at the hotels?
Magic Kingdom is our main park and the convenience of the
monorail makes the Hotels our favorite place to stay.
Thanks,
Joe

Yes. You can use your points to stay at Most of the deluxe Disney hotels- except BC and WL and BWI because they have DVC villas already. You can also stay at the Moderate Disney hotels as well. Just be aware that the point costs for stays at the non-DVC resorts are extremely high. It will cost you much more in points to stay in just a regular hotel room at the non-DVC resorts than to stay in a 2bdrm villa at a DVC resort.

yes you can use points for those hotels and even more. You can even use them for the concierge (sp?) floors. Disney will figure what a point value is based on the highest possible cash rate for the room. Some feel that it is at too high a point value to use. Others like the flex. of staying at other places. I find the boat ride from the VWL to be just as easy to the MK as the Monorail. And if you could always ride the rail to the Contemp and then the boat to Vwl if you stayed there.

Don't see how DVC works financially if used primarily for the Disney collection monorail resorts - the points are just way too high to stay there

If VWL works for (at WL property) then DVC does work as an MK resort location

Thanks for the quick replies.
I didn't know VWL had a boat to the Magic Kingdom; that changes everything.
Thanks again,
Joe

Buying DVC doesn't make sense for use at the regular Disney hotels. It's nice to have the option of doing so but the points are way too high at present to use that option much or at all. Same can be said for all the exchange options except a subset of the Interval International options.

Dean is correct-do not buy into DVC to use your points at other non-DVC resorts at WDW. WLV are very nice and have a boat ride to MK but it does take some time to get there, if you are a person that likes the mono-rail, then the boat from WLV hardly fits the bill. On the other hand it is a beautiful ride, but speed is not one of its strong points, plus the wait for a boat can be quite long, especially since they are sharing the boat with the camp-grounds.
