hi, we are going to akl aug 9-12. have a few questions. We are not planning on going to the parks and I was wondering what you would recommend? I would like to go over to wilderness lodge for the campfire/movie and bike around on the trails.. what else have y'all done? And where would you recommend eating? thanks, maggie

ps: is the magic your way dining plan only sold as an add on to the magic your way vacation packages?

If you're staying concerige at AKL, you have the options of the Sunrise & Sunset safaris which are really cool. Definately I would go to Jiko's while at AKL.

Used points to stay at AKL in June. Be sure and read all the events happening, expecially if you have kids. We liked Boma's and Mara's. We took our meals from Mara's outside as we spent the morning at the pool. Last year we ate at Jiko's without the kids.

With the Sunrise safari, you have to use park admission. Sunset is on the grounds of the AKL.

You could hit the Boardwalk, but I find that a bit boring. Also DTD (eat at Earl of Sandwich). You could also go to the outlet malls (see a pattern here????). Swim in the pool. Sit out on your balcony and watch the animals. Drink the lemonade in concierge - very good.
Rent boats.

Probably too late for a fireworks cruise, but that would be fun and you don't need park admission.

We were at AKL at Christmas and could have stayed forever. There are lots of coolactivities for the kids (or adults who like to act like kids) from night vision goggles. cultural activities etc. You can stay there for the whole time and love it.

Beaches and Cream is a must for every trip though.
