We have a friend who may be joining us for a day in Epcot. If he were to eat at a sit down meal w/ us, could he use another adult's credit(the other adult will obviously not be at the meal)? Do they check your ID to make sure the person listed on the plan is redeeming the credit? Or am I being paranoid?

They do not check ID typically.... but.....

The Official Answer is .....

You can not share with others, only those registered to your room may use the dining credits in your plan.

Last year, during our WDW vacation, our nephew came to spend one day with us. We were on the DP and had booked a buffet.

I thought he might feel uncomfortable if he heard me explain, one meal was being paid in cash and to "swipe" the other meals off the card.

I called ahead to ask if we could swipe off an extra adult meal, and just pay out-of-pocket for an adult meal at a time he wasn't with us.

One CM's said, "Absolutely, the credits are yours to use any way use wish."

A different CM said, "NO, you will not be allowed to swipe off more meals, in any one (1) transaction, than the number listed on the card."

We just paid cash when he wasn't paying attention.

Here is the relevant portion of the rules:

I believe since January '08, that waiters will not let you order more meals than there are people listed on your card. In other words if your card says two adults, then two adult meals are all you can order. Also you can not order two meals close together, so if your friend was allowed to use the other person's credit, then that person would not be allowed to use a credit during that time frame.

There was a thread about this not too long ago, where it was stated that waiters could get into alot of trouble if they tried to charge more meals to a card, than there were people listed on the card. They don't care who uses the credit, only that no more credits are used than you have people listed on the card. The problem would come in, if the person who the credits actually belonged to tried to use a TS credit during that lunch (or dinner, or whatever) time frame.

If you are substituting an adult for an adult there's no way Disney will be able to determine who's who, here.

On the other hand, as the previous poster showed you that the letter of the law says NO by Disney's dining plan brochure to have anyone else use the dining credits.

You have to go with your heart. The other adult has to eat though, too even if they are not with you. I wouldn't be happy if you used my meal credit. That's not really right for that person who will not be there.

Since the other adult on the DDP will not be there, really, there wouldn't be any problem with the other person using the credit. One of you gives the CM one of your room cards and they deduct the TS credits. But now your "missing" adult will be out one TS credit, which I'm assuming is fine with them!

We used the DDP back in June of 2006 and I figured then that Disney would fine tune it (read fix any potential for abuse).

Back then you could use all of your TS credits for who ever practically at one sitting! I was allowed to use a TS for an extra person.

So if CMs are now counting how many heads vs. ts credits available for that meal then that is one way that Disney can curtail it. But having someone fill in for meal that missing adult doesn't seem like a problem to me.
