When staying at the Dolphin can we use the pools at the Yacht and beach club?
I thought it might be nice for the kids to have a little swim while the adults try out the assorted bars for a change one evening!:thumbsup2

I think most people say, no, only if you are staying at the resort should you go in the pool.

IMO, I dont think its a big deal at all.

No. You can't. ONLY Guests of the Yacht/Beach Club can use that pool.

This is actually true of MOST Disney resort pools. Only Guests of the given resort can use its pools (except: Port Orleans Guests can use any pool at either PO resort; AllStar Guests can use any pool at any AllStar; and DVC Guests can use the pools at most of the Disney resorts - but even THEY can't use the Yacht/Beach Club pool).

Nope, it's called "pool hopping" and has been the subject of many a heated thread here on the DIS.

Disney prohibits pool hopping except at sister resorts (i.e. if you stay at POR you can swim at POFQ, and if you are at an All-Star you can swim at any of the 3 All-Stars, but not Pop Century).

The pool at the Y&BC is called Stormalong Bay, and is the most elaborate pool at any WDW resort. It's so elaborate, and so much fun, that it is surrounded by a fence and you MUST show your room key from the Yacht Club or Beach Club to prove that you are a paying Guest, just to get into it.

So the answer is no, you cannot swim in any WDW resort pools other than the one where you are staying (in your case, the Swan and Dolphin share a very nice pool.)

Although you did get your answer....

The Dolphin/Swan's "lush grotto lagoob pool" is voted one of the best pools by the Luxury Guide to WDW...also their is a lap pool, beach area....your kids should be most happy there:)

I meant lagoon...lol..

Absolutely right. The Swan/Dolphin main pool is very nice. The pool bars are also very nice.

FWIW, I have also seen Cast Members "card" guests at the Boardwalk too.

OP, you will LOVE the Grotto Pool. It is very nice :).

We have friends that were going to disney this week. Staying at CSR. Well the guy was saying that they were told they could pool hop by a friend of theirs. I said oh no, not from what i have heard. it is a big no no. Well when he checked in he asked the CM if they could swim at any wdw resort pool. the CM said yes. He said you mean we can go over to the poly and use their pool? CM said yes, that is a perk of staying onsite, and gave them the best way to get to the poly from their...... soooo..........
I know that you will get a different answer every time you ask a differnt CM but thought it was odd they were told they could. our friend said he noticed when they went to the CSR pool it said for CSR guests only....... go figure...:confused3

Every time we have stayed at the Yacht or Beach Club we have had to show our room key cards and then were given a wrist band by the CM guarding the entrance.

It's too bad CM's are not trained better. This contributes to the problems at the deluxe pools like the Polynesian. People who paid money to stay there have a hard time making use of the amenities they are entitled to because of people being there who are not entitled to those amenities.

There are signs at each resort stating the pool is for the use of registered guests at that hotel only. Plus it's just common sense.

Actually, not that long ago, ok, maybe 15yrs ago.....you WERE allowed, encouraged, etc to use any Disney pool if you were staying onsite. You had to show your room key and you could swim anywhere. We often swam at the Poly when we had a meal there.

Then crowds got REALLY big at Disney and stormalong bay was the real problem. Eventually things changed and pool hopping, even for just those staying onsite, made pools too overcrowded for guests at those resorts. T

But trust me, had I NOT been privvy to all these discussions on the dis...we would have been pool hopping w/ my children and not given it a 2nd thought until we started to see the signs when we arrived at the resorts. It has nothing to do w/ common sense. It's a rule that has been changed.

But for me it is common sense. I would never assume that when I am paying a much lower rate to stay at POFQ in December that is okay for me to go over to the Polynesian and use that pool. I wasn't there 15 years ago and neither were many, many of other people going now so they don't have the historical knowledge you have to think that was an option.

Anyway, I guess the original question has been answered.:goodvibes

Not to be insensitive, but I agree that if you want to use the pool at a particular resort, then you should pay to stay at that resort. When we stayed at the BC, we had to show our keycard and get a bracelet to wear while at SAB. They checked every member of the family-no key-no bracelet. Without the bracelet you would be asked to leave. It was a hot July and we actually met people who said they would go down early in the day just to get the bracelet before heading to a park to guarantee that they would have acces to SAB when they returned to swim. When you pay that much to stay at a resort you don't want to share with others who haven't. :thumbsup2

Just wondering, why would it matter when they got a bracelet. Do they only give out a certain amount for each day?:confused3 I would think if they were staying there that they should be able to go to the pool at any time of the day they choose...:confused3

You can. I have no idea why they would worry about gettign a wristband before going to a park. It's possible that it wasn't the wristband they went down early for, but rather to put towels on chairs and "chair hog" so they'd have chairs when they got back from the parks.

The pools at the S/D are off limits to everyone but S/D guests. Even DVC members cannot pool hop to those pools.

Xavier,

I don't see the big deal, you'll be staying at the Epcot resort area. So IMHO its ok:rolleyes1 , though its considered "pool hopping" Ask a CM and if they tell you YES, then go for it!(If they tell you NO, then simply keep asking until you find a CM that tells you yes!:rotfl: ) Honestly, to me its not a big deal esp @ the Epcot resort area because all those resorts are deluxe, so your paying about the same prices as anyone else that is there!!:confused3 When we stay at the YC we use the pools at the BC if the others are really crowded! Its really a matter of opinion.

I always ask a CM before I "jump in" and if they say its okay I take their word for it. I've never been told No either. But it also depends on the CM you ask!! Some say yes while others say no!! HTH :thumbsup2

Enjoy your Vacation!!
