I am in the middle of a major meltdown and my wedding is not for 18 months yet :scared:

I can't even book the bloomin thing yet and I am really stressing over this room block thing :scared:

I just want to know if it is acceptable to ask people for their ressie numbers? even if you are offering them a discount.
Is it allowed on the forum or is it against the rules?

I really want to book 2 very nice villas we have found but I won't be able to if we need to book disney rooms ourselves.

I dont want to book the villas and then not be able to post a thread offering discounts in return for ressie #'s

please help

I've seen people do it here before. I'm sure I will be doing it for my VR next November. I can fill almost all of the rooms but not quite all 25 room nights expected. So why not share with my DIS friends..:grouphug:

I'm sure you'll get lots of takers if you need them.

Linzwylie, since you're asking about a room block, am I correct in assuming that you will be having a Wishes or Couture event? Unless things have changed, a room block is only required for those two events.

How many guests will you be inviting to your event? How long do you expect them to stay? Remember, all of their room nights are added up together in order to reach the room block goal.

For example, I needed 25 room nights for my custom vow renewal. My guest list was small (22 guests total) and I was concerned. But since I was spending 2-1/2 weeks in WDW (a week & a half prior to my event, and a week after), I pretty much filled up more than half of my room block on my own. When I added my parents & sister's family into the equation, voila, my room block goal had been reached. The rest of my guests' resort rooms were simply icing on the cake.

Since you are concerned, definitely discuss this topic with the FTW folks as soon as you can book your event. You won't be the first wedding couple who has been frazzled by the thought of meeting "X" number of room nights, and you certainly won't be the last. ;)

If you are talking about the DVC villas, unless things have changed, they should be included in your room block. I know that they were for my event. I simply gave the DVC reservation numbers to my FTW Sales Manager.

Again, discuss this with the FTW folks. They'll tell you what the rules are for your event.

Yes we will be having a wishes wedding :)

So far there are 32 people altogether and all staying for 2 weeks. All but 9 will be staying in the villas. 5 of those 9 are adamant they want to stay on international drive and the other 4 have just told us a few hours ago that they will be staying in a hotel for the 2 weeks and yes it probably will be disney with a few nights thrown in at a universal hotel. So I think we may be sorted for at least 10 of those 25 nights

Yes I imagine that this must be a reuccuring theme on the dis ;)

No I'm afraid that those villas are not part of DVC, they are private villas at windsor hills resort. In fact now that I think of it, none of my friends here in the u.k are part of DVC, Now why is that :confused3

Thanks for all yor suggestions.

I think we may be sorted for 10 nights so will just have to find the other 15.

I posted a thread on a u.k based disney forum asking if i could offer rooms at a discount in return for reservation numbers and they deleted it saying that it was against forum rules that is why I want to know if it is allowed on this forum?

Thanks again

I think that if they are at the villas you can just get their numbers to your EM and they count, even though they are staying outside "the hotels" they are still on property and count, you just need to supply your EM with their individual ressie # and they will count or used to count.

For example: My hotels were : Beach Club, Boardwalk, POFQ, All Star Music (I did have 4 only b/c they did not block all they should have at the BC).
I had ppl at the BC, Boardwalk, POFQ, POR, BC Villas, All Star Movies, Cornado Springs and they all counted, I just had to provide my EM with every ressie number that was not in my room block. Hope I have made sense

I dont think our villas will count as they are nothing at all to do with disney, they are privatly owned.

Thanks anyway

Does anyone know if offering the discount in return for reservation numbers is actually allowed on this board?

I wouldn't want to get 6 months from my wedding and then not be allowed to ask people on this board

Sorry guys, but it has been decided that asking for reservation numbers / giving out your room block info falls under the the solicitation portion of the DIS guidelines, and therefore we can't allow it on the board.

I'm going to lock this thread now, if you have any questions on the policy, feel free to contact the moderators or the webmasters.

Thanks!
