Using One Time Use Points

I'm going to books a studio at VWL for the night before the DVC member cruise in August. I'm going to purchase the one time use points as we are saving next year's points and I don't want to borrow. Total points 17.

Here's the question...when PVB opens up for booking in February, and if there is availability, could I cancel that reservation and use those same one time points to books a studio there? I would also need to purchase extra points (a VWL studio is 17, PVB 21).

I was just wondering if this was allowed with the one time points?

You can only purchase one-time-use vacation points once per UY.

Okay, so since the PVB reservation would take more points, I wouldn't be able to purchase those 4 extra points. That makes sense! So I'll book VWL and not worry about it, thanks!

Could you just add the 4 extra points to the original one time purchase, that way you have them in case you can switch to PVR? Of course if you can't switch you would have paid for 4 extra points for nothing.

I think they will only let you buy the one-time use points if you are actually booking something. I don't think you can buy them and just stash them in your account.

No, you can only purchase up to 24 points, at one time, to complete a transaction. If you don't need them, then they are not available.

And, as mentioned, once you purchase during your UY, if you need more, you can't get them.

But, if you purchase them for a reservation and later cancel that reservation, the points will be in your account until the end of that UY and can be used to secure another room. They can not be banked or borrowed and can not be used online.
