Using Mypoints for Disney Gift Cards

I know people ask alot about ways to earn money for Disney so I thought I would confirm this information on here since there have been discussions on if it was possible.

I am a member of Mypoints and yesterday I received a $50 Walgreens Gift card from them. I went o Walgreen's and was able to use the gift card to get a $50 Disney Gift card.

I earn points mostly from emails, surveys and coupons. I do shop through them as well. You can refer people and get points for them but I have never done that.

That's awesome!! My mypoints have been accumulating cause I didn't have anything to spend them on yet...last time I did Rainforest/Trex cards, but we had such a miserable experience at Trex I'll never do it again. So, my points are wasting away....LOL

Good to know this is an option! I wonder if all Walgreens let you pay for a gift card w/ a gift card...Hope mine does!

When I went in the girl at the register said "I don't think you can do that but let's give it a try! The register makes the decision on what I can and can't do - let's see what happens."

She rang up the Disney Gift card and then scanned my Walgreens GC and the next thing I knew - I had a $50 Disney gift card!!!!

That's great to know. I'm skeptical about my Walgreens because the "checkout police" works there. It's her mission in life to make every transaction difficult as possible. Love to hear others experience with this.

I hadn't heard about the closed accounts - was there a reason given? I was kicked out of Pinecone - but hadn't considered the same could happen at MyPoints.

Great idea, but I'm going to double check with my Walgreens first before ordering. We have a check out person who is a "coupon Nazi" and I'm certain that she would be a stickler.

Well we get the mypoints rainforest cafe gc have 50.00 now woo hoo and almost another 50.00 thats 2 breakfests or one dinner.. kids like the animals in rain forest food is so so .... I get about 100 year from mypoints and i have had them for almost like 10 years.

survery and product testing is fun to me so i like the reward sites but i mostly do mypoints. I dont buy things unless i cannt get it at local store.

The only reason given was a form email stating that we had "violated the terms of service". All questions received a form email in response or no response at all. I hadn't violated any terms of service (only one account, only did paid emails through them so I know I didn't duplicate offers). Some have speculated that we were signed up for another account somehow without our knowledge. My personal opinion is that they wanted to save the payout money since most accounts cancelled had points built up. I googled "closed mypoints account" and it seems pretty widespread. Some other Dis-ers and I have been trying to warn people to cash in before they cancel your account. It seems like building up points may be a red flag and we don't want y'all to lose $$$ like we did.

I have never tried Mypoints as was thinking about trying it. Now Im a little nervous- sounds a bit scam-ish!

It used to be really good and I referred a lot of friends. I have cashed in quite a few times. Lately, however, it seems they have changed their business practices and instead of referring friends, I tell them to run the other direction. I just think that if all of those whose accounts have been cancelled had really done something wrong, they would have no problem responding to our email saying, "you did X, Y, and Z and that is why your account was cancelled." Instead, they closed them without warning, we lost all of our points and they refuse to even answer emails about it. Run the other direction!!!

I too had my Mypoints account terminated.

There are plenty of other rewards site where you can cashout everyday or anytime you like and receive the gift cards fast. FairytaleTreasure offers Disney gift cards either delivered online or by mail and you receive it fast ... within a few hours if selecting the electronic gift card ... or a week or so if mailing by u.s. mail.

i've been a mypoints member for 10 years also and have never had a problem. In fact, i ordered a slew of gc's last week for our texas trip. NOW...I am truly addicted to the games on that site and will keeping my points in future for the Walgreen's/Disney deal as mentioned.

Maybe...I'm wondering...they are closing accounts who never shop or spend money but just accrue the click-thrus. Not Kosher, surely...but it does make me wonder.

I got the impression that people who had their accounts closed - had more than one account for their email address. I don't think it was on purpose but they accidentally signed up for Mypoints through other programs.

That is why I only do Mypoints - I want to make sure I don't accidentally mess up another reward.

What I was reading (between the lines) on the Rewards forum is that people will do the "freebie" paid things...not surveys, but where you are basically paid for your info, your email, and then you are supposed to look at sites and such... And if you click to LOOK at the mypoints page, they are somehow transmitting that to mypoints (when you should just be able to not transmit it), and that's getting counted as *trying* to open another account...and that's why things are getting closed.
