I contacted member services a few months ago and used some of our points (and paid a fee) to book a pet friendly Ft. Wilderness cabin for a couple of nights. There is no place currently to check availability online for using our points at the cabins and I think they are often hard to come by. I understand that next year sometime they will actually become a DVC resort so hopefully it will be easier and more transparent to book online, although I suspect there will be an availability issue like every other DVC resort and it will take a lot of advance planning. At least there shouldn't be the $95. fee. In the meantime, does anyone know at this time (pre-DVC resort) how far in advance we can book these cabins out using our points? I called member services today and the representative was unable to answer my question. Thank you.

Thank you!
Note this statement above:
Charts will be published when the Resort begins accepting Member
reservations.

Development of the points charts depends on negotiation with the Parks & Resorts division (the number of points needed depends on how many $$ P&R wants), and that doesn’t always happen promptly in relation to the 11 month window. With the cabins becoming DVC sometime in 2024, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a delay in release of a points chart until DVC is ready to release an actual Cabins at Fort Wilderness DVC resort points chart.

Unless there is some huge, unexpected and unlikely surprise, you'll be able to book the cabins using your direct points and the standard DVC booking tool, because the cabins will be part of the system.
They announced there will be pet friendly cabins. The only issue might be availability at 7 months, we have no idea how that will be. There's a chance a lot of owners will buy there to book the only pet friendly rooms in the whole DVC, so those might be harder to come by.
Most likely, the cost per night will be much better, too.
