Using ME, check additional bag at airport?

I hope this makes sense... our next trip we are flying SW and will use ME. On departure day to head back home, we will use the airport check in at the hotel and send our bags ahead via ME. We will check our carry on bags at hotel while we go to the water park for a few hours. My question is regarding the wet bathing suits and swimmies we need to transport back. If I already did the airport check in at the resort, can I check an additional bag at the SW counter when we arrive at MCO? Or is my only option to stuff the wet items into a carry on bag and drag it around? We can do that, no problem, but obviously I would like to check the bag if possible! We have 5 in our group, so we get 10 bags free. I'd like to take advantage of that!! Thanks!!

Some people never check their luggage through at the resort and just take them with them and check at the airport. Since you have 5 people, unless you are planning to check 9 bags at the resort, then I would just have no luggage assigned to one of you at the resort. Then when you get to the airport, that person can then check their luggage with no issues of having already checked luggage.

why not just bring plastic zip loc baggies and stick the wet suits in there? Much easier than having to spend time checking a bag.....then you can go right to security. That's what we do.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. It would not be even close to worth it for me to check a bag at the airport.

We once HAD to check bags at MCO because RAC wasn't available to us (we were flying on a SW-Airtan mixed itinerary and at the time that flight combination wasn't able to be accommodated at RAC). It was nothing short of a nightmare once we got to MCO. The Southwest line was soooo long and we almost missed our flight home. I'd never do that again, honestly. Just ziplock your swimsuits and shove them in a carryon.

I have two toddlers and was planning on bringing their puddle jumpers as they hate life jackets (and so do I to be honest, they always ride up and look like they're trying to pop the kids heads off!). And those, plus suits, would be too big for a carry on. I never thought about the line at SW, I may just have to forego the puddle jumpers for this trip to make things easier. Thanks for the tips everyone!

Just to clarify: Your bags don't go back to the airport via Disney's Magical Express. When you use Resort Airline Check-In at your resort, you are turning your bags over to the airline.

On our most recent trip, we checked our bags via RAC, but still had to go to the airline counter when we reached MCO to check our car seat. (We had rented a car, rather than taken ME). The trek to the check-in counter was loooooooong. Fortunately, checking the car seat was easy once we got there.

You could still bring them, but just not use them on your last day. I would avoid having to check a bag at the airport to every extent possible. RAC is a savior!

I have no idea what a puddle jumper is, but Disney does supply swimming vests for free.

I googled them......they should fit in a normal size carryon bag. Granted, they aren't small, but you should be able to fit a pair of them into a regulation size carry on bag....each person gets to bring one on. You could bring just one larger carry on bag for one of the kids and put then both in there.

One of the Mom's at swim class showed me yesterday how you can fold the arm bands into the chest band and it becomes the size of a small box. I think you're right that I could then easily put that in a plastic bag and then they would both fit into one carry-on thus avoiding me having to trudge to the SW desk! I can't thank you guys enough, I believe your ideas have saved me a ton of time on departure day!!

That's what we're here for!!!! Glad we could help.
