Using MagicBands for FP+ after checking out?

Doing a split stay between on and offsite. Two of our park days occur when we are offsite. Can we still use our magic bands for our FP+ ride reservations on those days? I know we won't have charging privileges anymore.

I was told by concierge desk that we could use them till midnight of our checkout day.

You magicbands will access anything in your MDE account so they are good for any admission or FP+ as long as the admission isn't ties to a package or something else that makes it have to be activated prior to 1st use.

There are only 3 things that are specific to using MBs and resort reservations, opening your door, the dinning plan, and charging to your room. The rest are independent features of MDE.

Forever for FP reservations? Really?
Yes. Your fastpasses are attached to your tickets, which are linked to your MDE account. Your magic band is just a way of accessing your MDE account. Nothing is actually stored on the bands themselves.

But we are not buying tickets at Disney this trip. We have no expire ones we've been using for 9 years.

That is not important. All your tickets should be linked in your MDE account, in order to reserve FPs. As Alesia wrote, the bands just access your MDE account information.

You have to have tickets linked to your account to book fastpasses, so if you have a magic band linked to that account, then you can use it. It doesn't matter where or when you bought your tickets.

Another case of CMs not knowing anything about how park operations work.
Let the guest beware.

Does this also apply to using the bands *before* staying onsite? We'll be staying for a few days offsite before moving onsite, and would of course like to use the bands for entry and FP+. I've never been onsite before, so these will be the only bands on my account. It seems to me that it *should* work the same as if I had bought the bands separately, but when is anything ever as simple as it should be?

EVen better.

You can use the magic bands any time for Fast Passes .. they aren't associated with the resort, they are associated with your My Disney Experience account (which has tickets linked to them). The only limit is how soon you can make the Fast Passes for .. (30 days .. or if you are staying in a on-site resort you can make them 60+ days before).
If you have tickets linked to your account (even if you haven't used them yet .. or don't plan on using them for months) you can make Fast Passes 30 days out from today.

BTW .. OP - Keep those no-expiration tickets (leave at least 1 day left) as long as you can. It is handy to have for the future.

You can MAKE Fast Passes with Magic Bands as long as you have a ticket associated with your MDE account that the Magic Band is linked to. You can make those Fast
Passes ANY time. Since you can make Fast Passes if you have a valid ticket in your MDE account, the no-expiration tickets let you make Fast Passes ANY time 30 days out.
I have no-expiration tickets and check often 30 days out in case I want to make a last minute trip (pretty easy to do since I live 8 hour drive away). I can book them and use them if I decide to show up on that day.

I could even book Fast Passes with my Magic bands . and just give my Magic bands to someone else going to the parks those days .. giving them 3 extra fast passes a day (they just have to carry around two sets of bands).

Yes. As long as you have active tickets, you can book your FPs and then use your MagicBands for park entry and FP lines.

MagicBands provide the direct link to whatever data is in your MDE account. You don't need an onsite reservation to use MagicBands.
