Using Magical Express for unchecked luggage

Is it possible to use the Magical Express tags for carry on luggage? My plan is simply to bring it down to the luggage area and leave it there for pick up and delivery to my Disney resort - I do not want to check in my bags.

No official way to introduce the carryon into the Magical express system at that time and place.

There is a good chance (not a certainty) the carryon would make it to Disney if you put both a current DME yellow tag and a (perhaps old) regular white baggage tag on it and left it behind on one of the carousels

The downside of the latter action is that (1) someone might see you drop it there and have it blown up by security as unattended baggage, or (2) someone might pilfer it.

No. They don't even pick up the luggage at the carousel - they pick it up before it ever gets there.

You'll just take your carry-ons with you on the bus.

No, it will probably get spotted as suspicious and confiscated. Plus, Disney picks up the bags before they get to the belts.

There is no one to leave it with so you would have to leave it by a carousel and hope it got picked up. Not something would do

This has BAD idea written all over it. Leaving a bag at an airport as you described is a perfect situation for it to be considered a risky item and cause all sorts of issues.

This is how DME handles luggage....all bags that have the yellow DME tags on them are grabbed as they come off the plane. They are scanned (supposedly). They are then divided by resort area. Then they go on trucks that are headed to the resorts where they are delivered.
There is no way that a bag left at the baggage carousels will be picked up and taken to the 'backstage' baggage area for DME delivery. It just doesn't work that way.
If you want DME to handle your luggage, tag it and hand it over at your home resort. If you choose to have carryon bags, they have to go to the DME bus with you.

DME employees check the baggage carousels and unclaimed luggage offices for missed yellow tagged DME bags and for non-tagged bags belonging to guests who request DME delivery at the desk.

I understand bell services at the Hyatt can get their guests bags over to the DME luggage delivery area.

Most DME bags get picked up on the tarmac but there are other ways bags make it over to the DME sorting facility.
I'd just ask at the DME desk in MCO. Maybe they can do it. I don't think this is a service that many people would be interested. Carry on bags are typically items which contain valuable items like a camera or essential items like medicine. Those items aren't checked and shouldn't be turned over to DME.

I'm not sure I understand why you can't just carry it onto the DME with you. They are able to load bags underneath the bus. Once at your resort if your room is not ready you can leave the bags with bell services.

Nowhere in the OP's post do I see anything said about them riding the ME bus. I'm thinking this might be a luggage only deal.

You're avoiding the responsibility of tipping DME, and bell services (maybe 3 times).

You're also getting your luggage delivered straight to your room.

That would be a spectacularly bad idea.

OP Here - to explain my situation more clearly, We are traveling with three kids, one of them young. We plan on taking the ME bus to our resort. Our preference would be to tag luggage and check it in. However, the last two times we did this it turned into quite a negative experience for us.

First time, we flew Spirit, and they sent our luggage to another city in the complete opposite direction. We got it about 36 hours later - no fun. Second time we flew United (it was Continental at the time) - our luggage was on a later flight (and we checked in 90 minutes prior to flight so that should not have been a problem) we were told the bags were flagged for TSA inspection and that is why it did not make the flight. We got our bags late the next morning - no fun. Even though we do carry on necessities and an emergency clothing change, both situations were pretty inconvenient.

Our kids are a little older now - and to avoid being thrice bitten, we would like to carry on our bags this time, yet still have the added convenience of having DME take the bags from the airport carousel to our rooms (its still easier to do that with one toddler).

I know in the past, I have seen DME personnel take tagged bags off the carousel and put them aside, which is why I asked the question. I did not know that the bags are now taken before they reach the carousel, so if this is correct, my desired plan is not an option for me.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like either we check bags, or we carry on all the way to the resort.

Thank you! I posted my prior post before reading yours. Looks like it could be a solution.

How are you going to put your bags on the carousel? Are you just going to put them there yourself and walk away:confused3 hoping security doesn't see you leaving them?

I bet the OP was referring to the suggestion in the last paragraph to ask at the ME desk.
