Using iPad as e-Reader ala Kindle / Nook?

I love love my ipad mini!! its small enough to easily fit in a bag/purse and carry with me and I found the screen is large enough to do whatever I want. I have both kindle and nook apps on my ipad and work fine. I do like my Kindle better for reading outside and if I am going to be reading for a significant amount of time the kindle is definitely better. Recent trip to WDW I took both (cheaper to replace a broken kindle than ipad) so I could read at pool, water park, beach, plane etc. I like both and use for different purposes so I wouldn't give up one for the other :)

I can't remember- if you put the Nook app on your iPad, does it automatically sync itself to the Nook for whatever your reading? or do you have to hook them together somehow with cords? I remember my iPhone being on the same page as my nook but I haven't used the Nook app in so long I forgot how I did it!

Good question - I'm going to have to figure it out though.

OP here, thanks for all your feedback. I really appreciate it! Ended up buying a Mini last night mainly because of the portability. I have a lot of medical appts and waiting around so being able to stick in my purse turned out to be priority that I didn't think of initially. The Mini and Nook are essentially the same size BUT the Mini has a much larger screen and better form factor, enough to justify the purchase-especially with the $100 Target gift card. Really looking forward to the better screen resolution.

Need to get a screen protector for it this morning to I can take it out of the box and play :goodvibes

Hope I don't get into trouble but here is my screen protector and case-love both. read the tips on installing screen protector; love the case as back is hard case but actual cover is a softer case and shuts device off when closed.

I'm pretty sure the iPad app syncs to your Nook account, which syncs to the Nook, and vice versa. As far as I know, there isn't a way to directly hook an iPad to a Nook. You can connect the Nook to a computer via USB, though.
