I apologise for asking yet another HB related question but having sat here for most of the day pouring over our options and menus I'm just making myself even more confused! :surfweb:

If I bought HB premium vouchers it'd only be worth doing if we ate at Inventions, The Auberge and BBWWS but if we did... (as those 3 would cost us £486 and HB premium for 4 days is £488) I'd have 1 days worth of vouchers to use at face value.

Can you use say 1 adult voucher and 1 child voucher to pay for a meal for 2a&2c? as the face value of 1 adult and 1 child in premium vouchers would almost cover some of the cheaper places to eat.

Just thinking that it might be worth getting them if you can do that as I can make it cover an extra day (unless they're dated of course) as we leave late on our 5th day so would need to buy a meal then too anyway.

Hope that makes sense. Any thoughts appreciated?!

No, I don't think you can do that.

Have you thought about getting a Shareholders Card instead? You have to buy the shares but then you 15% of all buffet and table service restaurants plus a few other perks. That's what we're doing this year as we found the vouchers a bit of a faff and didn't make any real savings as we ate at Standard, Plus and Premium restaurants.

I dont think you can either I think you would each have to use your voucher and lose the rest of the value of it if that makes sense :/

I'm fairly sure we did this last trip but it was 2 years ago now. I seem to recall the waiter giving us a voucher back as he said the face value was more than what was required but I can't honestly remember where - it might have been Cafe Mickey?

Of course, like everything, things change and it also depends on who serves you on the day.

In theory you are able to use your vouchers at face value not per person so if your meal adds up to less vouchers then you should be able to do that.

I can't remember but I'm sure our vouchers did not have a date on them? Can anyone going recently confirm this? :confused3

Sorry, I'm probably not being much help ;).

I'm sure we got a voucher back one day too - I think from Annettes, because our vouchers were worth more than what the bill came to.

I suppose as long as you're not ordering from the set menus - which we didn't - you should be able to use for face value. I'm sure it says in the brochure that they can be used for face value too.

Yes you can, last June we used just 4 vouchers towards the cost of a meal for 9 and then used the other 5 vouchers towards the cowboy cookout. Obviously you can only do it at the table service places which accept the vouchers.

Are you a shareholder?? I faced a similar dilemma. I looked at a selection of menus (most of which places I will probably be eating in), picked the most expensive starter, main and desert from each menu and weighed this up against the price of a voucher. In most cases (with the exception of places like auberge and inventions) you were better off just paying rather than getting vouchers. bearing in mind, you wouldn't always be picking the most expensive options! Especially with being a shareholder (you get 15% off) maybe it would be worth you getting shares and becoming a shareholder?

If you look at post 23 on here

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2846927&page=2

it looks like the vouchers have dates on them, I'm wondering as they have also names on if it isn't the holiday dates, maybe that's to avoid people not using them and then selling them on or something...or maybe I'm totally off track :lmao:

Yes our vouchers have always been dated with the duration of our stay so you can use any of the vouchers on any day of your stay but can't keep them for another trip:goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I have been thinking about becoming a shareholder but IF we go to the most expensive places on the plans then I worked it out that we'd save more with HB. It would take a good few trips to get our monies worth out of buying shares, I'm not saying we wouldn't and I would love the other perks but fact is we're just not big enough spenders really.

So am I right in thinking that although your vouchers are dated they would be valid for all 5 days of our trip? so if it were possible to split them then we could use them for the extra day.

It's good to know our options anyway, DH isn't overly bothered about Auberge, BBWWS or Inventions so we might just stick with HB+ after all. Typical!!

Yes that is right, the vouchers have the dates of your trip on, so you can use any voucher on any of the days you are there.

When you order, I would recommend you say that you are using HB vouchers at face value, and give them in when you ask for the bill. Also if the amount due is slightly more than the value of the vouchers you want to use, you can top this up with cash, rather than using up another voucher (you do not get change from vouchers).

Like others have said, we had no problems with using 2 or 3 vouchers when 4 of us had eaten.
