Using Gift Card for Room Charge

I'm debating whether to use a gift card or our credit card for charging priveleges on our room card... Quick question -- if we decide to use a gift card and there are funds remaining on the gift card at time of checkout - will we be "stuck" with a giftcard balance? Or will they "refund" in cash?

And... if, say, I buy a giftcard online for, like, $300 (or so) and then want to add funds on it every couple of weeks, can I do that? Or do I have to buy separate gift cards every time (to add funds)?

Thanks in advance!

We did this in 2007 and we are doing it again for our trip in January.

I went to AAA and got a reloadable travel Visa Gift card. It can be used anywhere that takes Visa. It was $5 to activate and there are no fees for I think a year or no charges until after 12 months of non-usage. We loved it! We preloaded it before we went and we only used it there. Of course we did take our ATM cards just in case. After the trip we had about $100 left on it and we used it to buy our 'back from vacation groceries'. AAA will take care of it if you lose it or if it's stolen. You can also set up a pin to access it at atms.

I HIGHLY recommend this over a disney gift card because the Disney GF is for disney locations only. So if you don't use it all you have a gf with money on it that you can't use. Disney will NOT refund any gift card money.

There are other places other than AAA that does them such as banks and our mall does one. I strongly suggest you read the terms and conditions before buying to make sure there are no fees etc. My mom bought us some on the last trip from the grocery store and there were lots of hidden fees. They even charged you to call in and check your balance.

If you have any other quetions let me know. I'll be happy to help in anyway!
