Ok, I REALLY need help with something! I haven't been to Disney in a long time(15 yrs).

I'm getting a whole lot of different answers on this and want to get this straightened out!!!!

What do you get with a baby swap??!! Do you get a paper pass? card? or is it just swapping the child right then and there??? EVERY CM has different answers on that!! One CM said no pass just swap on the ride, another CM said card and you can use it anytime of the day..

Which leads me to my next dilemma

On MDE everyone has a choice of 3 fastpasses, right? right.

So if I wanted to make a fastpass choice for a ride and my husband didn't (but he still wants to ride it and save his fastpass for a different attraction) we can do the child swap thing right?????!!

I'm getting CM's telling me no, some say yes, some say it depends on the CM at the attraction!!!! Well how do I plan with these answers??!!!!!

I also would love the answer to this question...and while I hope we will enjoy the FP+ while at the park (changing on the fly, etc.) I am NOT enjoying planning out my stupid rides for the day! UGH!!

You get a paper pass, it looked similar to the paper fastpasses. All the rides that we did child swap, DD was not allowed in the line. I'm not sure if there are any exceptions, someone can correct me.

We used all the child swaps with fp+. So, one (or more) people would go on the ride using the fp entrance. The other person waits with the child outside. You just tell the cm at the entrance you need a child swap pass and they will give it to you. Then, the person who waits (and others - the pass is good for up to 3 people) enter through the fp entrance. You actually don't need to scan your bands, because the pass lets you thru the fp entrance. (We scanned our bands some of the time, because I didn't know this prior, and had made fp+ selections for everyone)

Hope that answers y'alls questions!

Thank you! This was what I was figuring

Well I still haven't found the answer and still dont' know what to do about fastpasses.. if I should make everyone's different and rely on the rider's switch to make mine and my hubby's selections different, so we can fastpass more rides.

I'm wondering this as well.

I don't see why you couldn't do this. The adult riding second doesnt, I believe, have to scan their magic band (and it would be hard to require that, because what if by the time the second rider went through the return window had closed? It wouldn't show green anymore even if they had a FP. There isn't any requirement that you use the swap pass within a certain amount of time). I never tried it, and I am hesitant to start tinkering with my FP's now. We used the rider swap often in November, but it was before they had tiering at Epcot and DHS and we all had the same fp's - we just used it so that dh and I each rode once, while older ds's got to ride twice. I am really curious to see if someone has success booking separate rides.

We arrived home 10 days ago. My husband, myself, daughter, son In law, and three grandchildren. Two campers, Fort Wilderness. One was infant, 2nd was 39 1/2 inches. We had Magic Bands. We would all go to the Fastpass entrance, they would immediately see the infant, measure the granddaughter, and ask how many riide swaps we needed. We always said 3, the amazing thing is that if two of the ride swap adults did not scan their magic bands, and if we were still within the one hour time frame for the FP+, we would wait for the first group ( watch the little kids) to end ride, and would re enter using our FP selection, using our Magic Band. Then, a bit later, three people would use the paper tickets for the ride swap! I will also share that TOT ride swaps tickets were unable to be used that day, as the ride shut down. Because we had dinner plans, we were unable to use the tickets, but stopped at Guest Relations. They gladly issued is Fast Passes good for up to 7 days at HS. We knew we were going back a 2nd day in our trip, so it was magical.

What about if you have a child who is 8 yo who is tall enough to ride, but too afraid? Can I use child swap? My DH and I would never just leave her to wait for us.... I know my DD will not ride Everest, SM and SM and ToT, but we still do. Will our FP+ expire before the first person returns from their ride?

Child swap is intended for kids too small to ride. There have been some people who have been permitted to use it for a kid who was afraid but just as many who have not. It's up to the cm. if you get there right as you window starts you should be able to use both fp+ before time runs out but if something slows down the fp line (break down etc) all bets are off

That is what I was afraid of. It seems a little unfair to people with children old enough to ride but not old enough to leave alone. Parents still have the same dilemma when their children are just afraid as do parents of small children. Sigh....

One is a safety issue - kids are too small- and one is not related to safety. Besides at what age then do you say is too old? 8,10,16? What about an adult that is scared? Height gives the cm a clear yes or no. Age gets into that grey area.

An adult who is afraid can just skip it. Completely different than an 8-12 year old who shouldn't be left alone. I think leaving an 8 yo to wait alone is a safety issue.

The cut off age should be what Disney says as far as when kids need to be with an adult in the parks.... They do have that rule for 'safety reasons".

Okay this is my question. We have 3 DS: 7,5 and 2. Obviously 1 year old is too small for many rides. If I book a fast pass for splash for myself and my older two and plan to utilize rider swap, do they scan my kids MB then too?

Only if they ride going through the fastpass line without the baby swap. I think this is where a lot of ppl. get confused. The original party does not have to have a fastpass or use their fastpass to just simply ride the ride while getting a baby swap pass. If a family of 5 walks up to Splash with a child too small to ride, none of them have to have a fastpass. They'd walk up to the CM, get the baby swap, the first adult and other height able kids would get in the standby line, ride the ride, then the parent that rode would stay with the baby and the other parent and 2 kids (baby swap is good for up to 3 ppl) would enter the fastpass line using the baby swap as their fastpass, they shouldn't scan anything.

Now if the original party wants to go through the fastpass line, they can given that they have a fastpass and they would scan their bands that time, but again not when they go through the 2nd time with the baby swap pass. They baby swap pass is the fastpass for up to 3 ppl.

Disney has said a child 7 or up can ride alone. So your 8 year old would be allowed to ride on any ride he or she is tall enough for alone. It is no different than he or she waiting alone. Disney has said you must be 14 to enter the park without an adult. I don't know if it's as much for safety as they don't want groups of unsupervised young Tweens running around

I still think leaving an 8yo is ridiculous and unsafe and should be handled the same way the deal with child rider switch passes. Before FP+ it was never a big deal. FP lines have gotten longer and I fear the second rider will be getting shut out. I hope the CM's are flexible in this situation.
