I know I have asked this before, but wanted to check.
Folks on here have informed me that if you use your FairFX card as the guarantee card when you check in to your Disney resort, that the resort will ring fence some funds on the card - thus making those funds un available to spend on the card elsewhere.
I was talking to my husband about this last night, and he said that we used our FairFX card as the guarantee card last time we checked into our Disney resort (just last year) and no funds seemed to be ring fenced at all. I think that (for once ) he is right!
Has anybody ever had any experience of this 'ring fencing' at a Disney resort? I know it happens when you present a card (pre-paid or otherwise) at other hotels, as I have had it happen to me, but I think we have used our FairFX card a few times to check in to Disney resorts, and don't think we have ever had funds ring fenced in the past
Can anybody confirm that Disney has ever ring fenced funds on a pre-paid card, when they checked into their resort?
Thanks guys xxx

I am fairly sure that is pretty much the norm. When you check in with a credit card they do an approval for the amount that you are allowed to charge on your room key so it would make sense they did the same with a pre paid card. This is why we always travel with a credit card that has at least twice the amount we want to sond as it's limit as the approvals can reduce available funds quite a lot.

I have never used my ffax card for that reason. There have been people on here who have and not been able to use their card because it has put the funds on hold. I think if you are going to use the $500 anyway by buying food gifts etc charged to ur room u shld be ok. It takes up to 21 days to release the money. I do not know why these prepaid cards work like this

It isn't just prepaid cards if you use a debit card it does the same.
