Using expired tickets for a package?

Cancelled our trip :-( probably won't go again until next summer. I have tickets that expire now in December for my family, an annual pass for me that I am not renewing. If free dining is offered next summer, would I be able to use the price of the expired tickets toward the free dining promotion package?

Thanks,

Becky

No.

We don’t know what kind of special accommodations may be allowed because of the present situation.
You can always ask.

So I can only use the expired tickets to buy new tickets?
That’s the way it stands right now. Guests have never been able to apply the value of expired tickets to the cost of a vacation package.

Generally speaking, what you are asking has not been allowed. For the current free dining offer to guests whose trips were impacted by the closure, I have read reports that WDW has allowed an "exchange" of the tickets towards the FD offer. I don't know if that will be an option next year. You can try to call and request a refund, though folks haven't been particularly successful with that option. I would plan to watch for a room-only offer next summer.

I am one of those people. They refunded my tickets for my May trip and let me book the FD recovery package. I think this is a YMMV thing though. I think they might be more accommodating toward people who are willing to rebook later this year (e.g., under the current FD offer), than people who want to go next year because they need guests for cashflow in the near term to be able to reopen.

I'm another one who was allowed to receive a refund for my tickets (purchased through Disney along with a room-only reservation for April) because I booked the free dining offer. They didn't initially offer that as an option - I asked for the refund with the explanation that I wanted to have that money available to pay off the rebooked package.
