I am curious if you can stay in the park during evening EMH for shopping and eating or do they throw you out if you are not staying onsite? Was thinking that we could bounce around MK and visit all of the gift shops and stop here and there for snacks. It would give us time to enjoy the park without the distractions of rides. Even though we are staying offsite we all have MB's so it wouldn't be that conspicuous. lol

No in theory? Not sure if they kick you out though like a party.

technically if your not a resort guest you are really supposed to leave the park. the EMH are trying to thin out the park for the resort guests. I'm sure they wouldn't drag you out but i know if i stayed off site id feel guilty staying longer than i was supposed to.

We always stay onsite but just curious how would CMs even know if you are already in the park?

Hmmm. May have to rethink planning. Can you do Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom during EMH?

To screen-out non-WDW resort guests who attempt to ride attractions… CMs scan guests' MagicBands (or tickets) at the entrance to each attraction.

I wouldn't feel guilty. I'm not increasing ride wait times but I am spending dollars in the stores.

I know that the Firehouse base for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is closed during EMH. I don't know if the game will still operate. I think I've seen some people trying to play during EMH, but, I haven't tried doing so.

As an offsite guest, you're "supposed to" stay and spend more money. :rotfl: If Disney wanted them out, they'd put wristbands on everyone like they used to. Stay with a clear conscience, OP.

Thanks, I figured we would have to purchase prior to close but then get to play while we wondered the park.

They only check at rides in my experience. I'm sure Disney Parks has zero problems with you staying to spend money before you leave. Similar concept to many of the shops staying open after closing hours on non EMH nights. I'm sure they make plenty of money on people stopping to buy last minute things before they leave the park for the day...

I think SotMK's portals do remain turned on during EMH; I remember seeing the one in Adventureland being on. As others have said, non-EMH guests are allowed to eat and shop in the parks after they close, but you will not be allowed to enter the queues for any attractions. They scan MagicBands, so only valid on-site guests can enter the queues. Not all dining locations (or shops) remain open for all of EMH, so make sure the ones you want to visit will be open.

OMG!!! This is soooo perfect!! Always wanted to do SotMK but didn't want to take away from ride time. Being able to not ride the rides but do SotMK will be so awesome for my kids. It's like we just found a new attraction at Disney!!! Mean while my wife can walk around the gift shops that are open. Win win for the whole family.....

I just might be the first offsite guess that loves evening EMH at MK. lol

Just note that things can change without notice. So you'll have to check when you get there (I also have no idea if all portals/lands are working during EMH or not). Also, as mentioned, you cannot collect cards during EMH.

Thanks everyone for your replies. One last question. Does the same hold true for World Showcase? Can you actually wonder around and eat & shop while being an offsite guest? This just seems to good to be true.

You can stay for EMH, just not ride anything. It's fine. World Showcase generally closes for EMH, while Future World remains open, though I don't know about just the shops. You can walk around it though because there is an exit in the rear of the park for Epcot resort area.
