Hi all! For any of you obcessive planners like myself, I was wondering if someone could please help me figure out the restaurants for us to do for our Deluxe Dining Plan.

We will be going next summer and it will be my sister, cousin and I on the plan. We will also have other people with us who will not be on the plan. We are going on a cruise (sadly, not Disney) first, then coming over to the World afterward on Thursday, and staying until the following Thursday morning. Therefore, we will have 21 credits each to use. We will probably need only one or maybe two meals the first day, and one on the last. Thinking about a dinner show for arrival day.

For sure, we want to go to CRT and Beaches and Cream for the Kitchen Sink (I know that will have to be paid for OOP). If anyone has a suggested itinerary, it would be greatly appreciated. I normally do mostly quick serv when at the world, so I am feeling a little overwhelmed with all the choices!

Sorry for the long winded post ;)

If you are used to eating at QS places, then the DxDP will a lot of food. I've read that to make it useful you will need to do at least 2 sit downs per day or a lot of 2 credit meals. CRT is 2 credits, so that is a good start.

If you eating with people who are not on the plan you mau want to keep in mind that a lot of Signatures and even regular sit downs will be very expensive for them. You probably already know this, but you cannot use credits to buy meals for people not on the plan.

Thanks for the reply :)

I have already talked to my friends about the fact that the meals will be expensive and they are ok with that.

I think my main motivation is trying a bunch of the restaurants at Disney that I normally wouldn't try.

There are a few key things about the DxDDP to know before you get deeper in.
  • You will have to plan much more tightly than in the past. To make value from the DxDDP you need to have your meals planned out in advance.
  • The "break even" point (at least this year) is roughly 2/3 of your credits spent at TS locations. This shifts depending on what you'd order and where you'd go, but it's a general guideline to aim for.
  • Meals can easily take 60-90 minutes at the table. Plan ahead for this.
If all of that sounds good to you, it's time for fun :). I treat my itineraries like a puzzle, and try to fit them all where they'd make sense. First, make a few lists of places you want to go. Don't worry about days, times, and credits just yet. Keep eyes out for the hours of the parks the days you're there. Then figure out what your most likely park plan will be. I utilize spreadsheets in Open Office (though Excel if you have it would also work, just Open Office is free :p).

For a couple samples of my plans, you can check out my TR below (the "Cafeen takes it slow..." one). I have my initial plans (for the 2010 trip) on the front page, and then a link to next years plans there too. (Easier than typing it all out hehe).
