Hi! I am trying to plan my trip for Princess Half Marathon weekend, and am open to staying somewhere other than my home resort (BWV). Is it even possible to use points on a non-DVC resort (i.e. Contemporary, not Bay Lake)? Thanks for your help!!

Only ones not connected to a DVC resort and no values.

Ft Wilderness Cabins & Campsites
Grand Floridian
Poly
Yacht Club
All 4 moderates

Points requirements are high (check the member website) and there's a $95 fee. If reservation is cancelled, points can only be used outside of DVC & cannot be banked.

It also depends on the status of the points you wish to use.

If they were purchased direct from DVC or by resale prior to March, 2011 they may be used for a stay at non-DVC resorts at WDW. If they were purchased by resale after march, 2011, they cannot be used except for stays at DVC resorts at WDW.

and just for further reference, you can also use them..direct points..at all three DLR hotels, INCLUDING the Grand. and there is no $95 fee at DLR.

Did they just start waiving the $95 at DLR? I almost booked at Paradise Pier using points and they were going to charge me. This would have been Jan 2012. Luckily my Grand Californian waitlist came through :)

AFAIK, the fee has always been waived at DLR.

A non-refundable $95 transaction fee applies per confirmed Disney Collection reservation (excluding Disneyland Resort in California, campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in Florida, and Tokyo Disney Resort).
