Using DVC Points for outside of Disney

Considering membership, and will most definately be visiting walt disney world on a regular basis, wondering if any experienced members have used points for any non-disney trips, and the value of that experience. Are the points only of value when visiting disney,

i have been a DVC memeber for a few years and found that if value = cost... then you are better off looking for "web deals" for other destinations.

if value = convenience.... that has a much looser $ equation....

Personally... i use it for Disney properties only (and internet sales for other locations)

Your best and cheapest option by far would be to just buy the points you'd likely use for DVC resorts and looking to other options for non DVC trips. Other options could be cash including private rentals or other timeshare ventures.

I think this is a great statement. DH and I are very much low stress/easy people. We like things to be as simple and uncomplicated as possible... so I'm thinking if we used DVC points to say, book a trip to Hawaii, it would be as easy as calling a number and having a DVC person book the trip for us, correct?
