I am STILL trying to talk DH into this... And I have read that the DVC points can be used for a Disney Cruise and for staying at other places. But I can't find out how many points it would take to book a cruise. I did find the Points chart here on the DIS for each DVC resort... but I could not find it for anything else. Is it just me? (as my dear children think... blind as a bat sometimes!) I mignt be able to talk him into it if I can find out about how hard it is to use the points for other places then WDW.

So I need to know :
Points needed to book Disney Cruise/anyone do this/ how hard was it?
Points to stay at DL in Cal./anyone do it/hard?

Also, and very important, with our current timeshare we can book Last Min. Getaways to any resort in the system and only have it cost 1/2 of the usual Points . For us this is usuall good as we are last min planners most of the time. So if I want to go to WDW within the next 60 days and stay at the current timeshare we own it will cost, say, 100 points instead of 200 for a 3 bedroom. Can you do this with DVC? or is the point price allways the same? Or is it just not usuall possible to plan last min getaways using DVC, and I guess it would depend on the time of year we want to go!

And is there any place on the web that has a point to point compare. chart.
Like 300 points at DVC is equal to ? at Sunterra/BlueGreen/ Marriot/ Fairfield? This is also important to him... I could care less!

I did notice, and find info to suport ,that DVC seems to be the only timeshare that has NOT gone down after buying it. DH is not happy that it is not a deeded property, so we can't leave it to the kids. Heck, I could care less about that at this point!

How many years is the deed at SS now with the 12 extra years? 42 or 52 years? I will be...., well very, very old! So not as worried as he is!

Points For a cruise: (3n example)
Value season:3n cat 11- 67,cat10-89,cat9-97, cat8-111
reg season:3n cat 11-104,cat10-111,cat9-119, cat8-134
Peak season: 3n cat11-122, cat10-129, cat9-137, cat8-151
Holiday basically 10 pts more.
You get that information from your guide. It is in your vacation Planner. I do not believe booking a cruise is hard to do...you would do it through MS.

2nd question, no-there is no last minuite discount.
Again I do not think booking into DL is hard. You are obviously flexible since you are a last minute travler.
YOU CAN leave it to your children...you really need to get exact information from a guide...they will not bug you-they will call you 1 time after you recieve all the information, to see if you have any questions, but then after that you have to call them. NO pressure...it is really different. If you want the number of a great guide, please PM me.
As far as the points being = to ...I don't know...but I was happy with the options that DVC gave me.

DVC is a deed property and you can leave it for your kids - problem is it quits in 2042 or 2054 (depending upon the resort)

the points chart for the cruises is very detailed - so I need more information

3- night cruise to Bahamas - stateroom category 11 to 4
4-night cruise to Bahamas - stateroom category 11 to 4
7 night cruise to Eastern Caribbean - stateroom category 11 to 4
7 night cruise to Western Caribbeaen - stateroom category 11 to 4
7 night cruise to Western Caribbean- Alternation, etc
10 night cruise to the Caribbean

and over in the Adventure Collection
7 night American Alaska Cruise holland AMerica Line

DVC does not have to allow their points to get people to stay in their resorts.

so they don't.

at the 60 day mark any unused villas are also send to CRO which can and does rent them out.

even with II it requires the same number of points - that say - II gives DVC a break on the points

One Bedroom
low - 124
med - 144
high - 160

two bedrooms
low - 207
mid - 252
high - 270

the problem is getting II or DVC to tell you before hand which season and which resort....

there is also Concierge Collection.

using DVC points at any place other than a DVC resorts is not a good ideal. It is fine once after 3 years or so. but not once a year.

if you want a change from WDW - remember there is also VB and HH.
