HI! I can't seem to get an answer to this, so I'm coming to my friends, the experts.

Rec'd the Magical Gatherings video in the mail and literature. But is says nothing about doing a Magical Gathering if you are a DVC member. I hope that you can use your points for staying and then add one of the plans to it, like gold, platinum.

Anyone know if you can do this?

Also, the lady at 407-w-disney said you had to have a group of 8, but the literature doesn't say how many, but it does say that is your group is 8 or more, it is called a Grand Gathering, not a Magical Gathering.

Thanks!

First you need to get your Magical gatherings number and then give it to MS when you book your rooms.

I don't know if you can add any of the plans.

Have you tried calling Magical Gatherings direct?

Cyn

When I booked our ressies last July for our family trip this June the Magical Gatherings program had not been announced. Once it came out I just called MS and registered our group as a Grand Gathering(parties of 8 or more traveling together)which entitled us to some special activities. I believe the term "Magical Gatherings" is to celebrate family and friends coming together at WDW while a Grand Gathering is something more specific. We did use our points for lodging for our family but I don't know about adding any type of package to that stay. Guests of DVC members can purchase the UPHs at a discount, though.

Last I heard, it was not possible to piggyback Silver or Gold plans (a form of "American Plan") on top of DVC points. MS will know.

I talked to a CM at MS yesterday about MG. Apparently they are making some changes for DVC members to speed the process along. The CM beleives that other changes are in the works so call and ask.

Thanks for all responses. I called 1/407-w-disney last night and she had no idea. Should I call Member SErvices of DVC at 800-********?

Thanks!

Some time ago after joining DVC I e-mailed and asked if it was possible to add one of the plans while staying on points. We had always used what ever food plan was available on our prior to DVC trips. I was told the plans ( I believe they were called Pluses ) were only available to cash customers to promote staying at Disney Resorts.
I too would like to be able to utilize this program but since they already have us as Resort Guests we can kiss these programs Good Bye !

We now have with DVC prepaid rooms and that would be like prepaid meals. Together they would be great.

Maybe someday.

But, truthfully, with the meal plans most people save very little, if any money. You almost have to be big eaters and enjoy the "full" meals with appetizer, entree, beverage, and dessert for each person in your party. So it really makes no financial sence for people to use them, even when staying on cash. The advantage it the pre-payment. Why not just save the same amount up in cash that you would pay for the meal plan, then deposit it with the front desk to your room charge account when you check-in...in effect "pre-paying" your meals.

We do enjoy full meals at Disney and usually eat both lunch and dinner at sit down restaurants. My DH and I easily will spend about $70 at lunch at the French rest. and over $120 at Narcoosee's or the Yachtsman Steak House. Our disney fun is eating there, so with the rates they give, it would be great to include meals.

When we went on our honeymoon, 1992, before DVC and we had a package that included our meals, we easily "made" money at the end of each day.

Diane

PS. This being said, I am not 300 lbs or anything and neither is he.

I would call MS--they were very helpful when we converted our group to a Grand Gathering. Good luck!!

LOL - never meant to imply big eaters are necessarily LARGE people...I have a friend that inhales everything in sight but is quite thin. :)
